Nice SL3. I have to say that the flat black look does look good, but I like the polished or raw carbon look slightly better.

While it does look flat black, the color is carbon according to Specialized. It is a flat clear over uni carbon. You can see the layup under the clear. I've added more pictures, the last of which shows what I am talking about. The finish if very similar to the unidirectional carbon look on the Easton bars, just at a larger scale.

Great build, I love it. I have an SL2 which I keep meaning to post on here.

One question; is the bike really standing up on it's own or have you got some invisible wires holding it up?

Hehe, no invisible wires, no magic. The bike is just barely touching the wall to help keep it upright.

Hi Tony,

How did you fit the Red on the frame? Yours came with pressfit system?

I haven't found an adapter to solve it. I have a red GXP crank and my frame came with a SPZ crankset. How canI change it?

In time, really wonderful bike!

I save pictures of my favourite bikes as inspiration for future builds and I'm pleased to say that this is the first Specialized that I've saved

@Danielbahia - I purchased the frameset, which only comes with the English threaded bottom bracket inserts. You would have to find an adapter as you mention. Unfortunately, I've not had the need to look for a source for the item as I don't need it myself.

@Bencolem - Thank you for the positive comments.

I've since added a Red Front derailleur as the Dura Ace must go on my old bike that I'm selling. Unfortunately the Red only weighted in at 3 grams lighter than the 7800. If I wasn't building up the old bike, I'd never swapped it out. I don't shift up front that often. Nice and flat here, so mostly in the big chain ring up front. The Specialized steerer plug has also been removed. No need for it until I need to preload the headset for any reason I remove the stem. Keo Classics were swapped out with new Keo 2 Max Carbons. Weight is at 13.79lbs or 6263g. I'll go for either Conti Competitions or Vittoria Evo CX 2 once these tires are worn, that should shave another 75 grams approximately. I don't have a desire to get too exotic with parts, so I doubt I'll ever push for below 6K grams.

Regards,
Tony

Thankyou for the pics! Great looking bike. At last I get to see what my SL's will look like on a bike from multiple angles. I am so jealous of you at the moment I am still waiting for my Contis to arrive so I can finally mount mine on the Pina.

great bike!

do you notice any difference between the chainrings you are now using and the standard SRAM Red rings?

@nathanbal - I moved from a Dura Ace setup on the old bike to SRAM on this one. I immediately changed to these chainrings when I built the bike. I've not put any miles on the stock SRAM chainrings.
