Here is my new project: A 52cm Klein Aura XV from 2004:
I sold of my Klein Quantum Pro in summer '09. I was spending more time on my mountainbike and i needed the money to upgrade my mountainbike. Now i not really regret selling it (although is was a very nice bike), it was a die hard racebike and i'm getting into more comfortable bikes (as my mountainbike is a full susser with 120mm travel). After a year or so it started to itch again to get a roadbike again and it should be a Klein. Since the small frame sizes are quite rare it took some time to get my hands on a affordable and mint Klein. Most of the Klein owners think their bike is worth its weight in gold....
So the new project is a Klein Aura XV from 2004. The build will take a while. I'm aiming to get her ready end of March 2012 (when budget comes along
). This bike is a bit more comfy compared to a Quantum. The color doesn't show on the pics...it is a real beauty.edItPics:
Weights and wishlist of parts:
Frame completely bare: 1250 grams;
Fork (stock) + headset (Cane Creek IS-8): 540 grams;
Seatclamp (stock): 29 grams;
Seatpost & saddle (SDG I-Fly I-Beam 31.6 - 400mm):425 grams;
Tune Wassertrager: 11 grams;
Second set of bottlecage bolts: 6 grams.
There will be some weight to gain on the fork when i cut it to size, on the seatpost clamp, on the seatpost if i cut it to fit and on the second set of bottlecage bolts.
Wishlist (which is based on a moderate budget):
Campa Athena CT compact with Shamal two way fit wheels;
or:
Sram Force with Fulcrum one or zero wheels (two way fit).
What do you prefer? I really cannot make up my mind. Budget and weights for both builds are about the same. And i want to run tubeless clincher tires, any thoughts about that? Do or don't?
I hope it ends up below 7 kilos at first on a moderate budget!
