I have the same frame but in 52 that I am building up for a friend, and can't thread the cables through without going insane. Tips in tricks would be appreciated!

The bike looks better in white.

I love the idea of trimming down an old bike....

What does the frame weigh? Sorry if I missed it.

In listings, there's a 56cm from 1996 at an impressive 1240 grams. Considering the size, that's almost competitive with some of the paint-heavy carbon fiber frames folks are posting here.

I use a weldingpiece of metal about 1 meter long (a very small long iron rod) to guide the cables through the frame. 2 minutes work!

I actually didn't weigh the frame alone, but the frame and fork and headset came in at about 1700 grams. And that is for a carbon fork with a steel of aluminium shaft.

I guess it would be about 1200 grams for the frame, 50 for the headset and 450 for the fork......

I have a klein attitude MTB its 7 years old and i can say the frame looks timeless, the minimalism and the fat tubing really looks awsome, that same principle is carried over to the road bike, even though that frame 10 years old it still look recent! really reallly nice frame....how much doeas it weigh?

yeah that sounds about right, i weight the frame+fork+headset and it was around 1.8xkg for my 52...100+ grams seems a lot for such a small change...but then again I don't know how precise this scale is.

Thanks for the tip on the cables, probably try that this weekend...my problem is I have an arc welder so that doesn't help me, but I do have a coil of decent thickness stainless steel wire, guess i'll spend some time straightening that out and using it.

No problem!

Next time i will ride and the sun is shining i will take my camera with me!

Red shifters and rearder rides perfect!

No more clean and easy Shimano shifts but just clack clack next gear!

Love it!!

Upgrades to come:

FD with clamp (not sure yet what to buy....);
Red cassette;
KMC gold chain.

After that maybe some bolt tuning.

Very nice!

You should get a campagnolo record 10s front derailleur. I think the pull ratio is the same as shimano... (I think, can someone confirm). That would accent the Fulcrum cranks nicely.

Next upgrade would be an Edge 705 computer.

Your bike makes me want to scour ebay for a NOS Quantum Pro in 54cm for myself.

So, changed my mind several times,

bought a Campa Record FD, DA 7800 11-21 cassette and DA 7900 chain.

Weighs in just a bit more than a Red cassette and a KMC chain but costs a lot less....also important!

going to save another 150 grams i hope. My bike will end up at about 6.8 kilo's or just below 15 pounds.

and yes, i did tare the scale with the plastic before putting the chain on. It's a 113 link chain btw. Don't know how much it needs to be shortened yet.
