When I initially opened my claim, Scott@Seka stated I would have to destroy my original frame and send proof before Seka would ship the replacement. And to only destroy my frame after Seka approves my claim as valid.
Stuck in limbo, I waited for their approval while my frame counted the days. But one random Tuesday, the shipment arrived at my door. Seka sent the replacement on good faith that I would be ethical about the Exceed's timely and moral death.
The situation makes me think hard about what I want to do with my build. The build I've always wanted, but couldn't.
Going into 2024, a lot has changed in the wheel space. An incredible number of new wheels have been popping up, nearly all adopting modern philosophy. Wide internals, with profiles shaped for stability instead of just raw, straight-line speed.
Ascent has always followed this design philosophy from the start, and they were finally working on a mid-profile 56mm rim with 23mm internals to sit between their 42mm and 69mm depths. This is exactly the profile I've been waiting for since 2022. Not too deep, not too shallow. The sweetspot of 21~23mm internals.
I just needed it murdered out like my soul.
I begged Ascent if they could do a custom all-black decal, with glossy clearcoat. Many months later the wheels arrive, tubeless tape and all.
I overhaul my drivetrain and swap the rotors and cassette over. The unboxed Aero 111's (29mm) and GP5k STR's (30mm) come off the shelf, after months of waiting.
