Wheelsets are something that are getting much easier to make with many more competitors vying for the same money. With that comes flavors of the month, paid adverts, and donated wheelsets to influencers which may or may not be disclosed.

Basically I'd spend time doing your research and reading reviews and not trusting just one voice.

Your wheels are likely a lower end carbon wheelset and you are looking to replace it with another lower end carbon wheelset so I don't think you will see much benifit outside of aero improvements from shape.

Personally I go lightbicycle a lot as they have been in the game for a long time for mid tier rims so I know what I'm getting vs the roll of the dice on a new vendor who may be dealing with teething issues. However, this is certainly outside your budget even during their annual black friday sale.

Also consider buying used locally if you are fine checking wheel trueness and verifying that the wheels are in good enough shape. London should have far more used options than many other places. Those flavor of the month wheels can often be found for a lot less after the luster wears off and the previous owner starts looking for the newest shiny object. Most worn bearings can be serviced so look into that before pulling the trigger too.

I think I will hold on a wheelset for now. When buying the bike I took my time looking and waited till I found a good deal, I'll do the same for the wheels. I might pick up a turbo trainer in the meantime 🤔

Considering commiting sacrilidge and getting a 200g stem to hide my cables and have a flush stem / head tube https://www.cannondale.com/en-gb/gear/c ... s-6-degree I really wish there was a lighter option to this thing! Just thinking about it for now. Will see what weight I end up with after I swap the drivetrain.

I tried acetone for removing logos and it did not work but to my surprise alcohol or naphta worked. Sorry can't remember which but no harm in trying both.
Cannondale Super Six Hi Mod 2017 6.845 kg
Cannondale six13, 2004, 5.50 kg

I tried previously using this same acetone and couldn't get the logos off.
After reading @MichealK saying he got them off with a bit of elbow grease, I tried again and they did come off.
You just have to spend some time and scrub harder, they will come off eventually.ImageImage

Currently 7.96kg
Swapped 120mm Thomson stem for 110mm Uno Kalloy stem with ti bolts. Rear 28mm GP5000 got swapped for a 30mm so added a bit of weight there. Will probably put 32mm on front and back soon.
I've got a new crankset, cassette and chain to put on soon. I think I've mostly figured out my fit, I used Myvelofit and the fit it gave me is actually quite comfortable compared to how I was riding before. So I should be ordering new cockpit stuff soon too. I also need to take a look at pedals.
I was bidding on a set of ENVE foundation 65's on ebay, the auction ended up going over my budget. All good though, I'm still trying to figure out a light weight wheelset, in no rush to get them now that winter is basically here.
Hopefully weight should start dropping soon 🙏

We made it to 7.6kg! dropping weight is tougher than I expected.
I do have some Aliexpress speedplay pedals with titanium spindles that take the build down to 7.5kg, but I don't have the shoes yet 😂 so still running mtb pedals for now.

I swapped in:
SISL crankset with spiderring 50/34 - replaced cannondale one 110bcd cranks with fsa chainrings
Goldix steel cassette 11/34 - replaced 105 11/32
Dura ace chain waxed - repaced 105
Mixed direct mount hanger

I had a hell of time changing the cranks, took me a while to realise the spindle that came with the replacement cranks was shorter than my original one so it wouldnt fit my bike. Swapped them over, but the crank bolt was hard seized, had to heat it on the stove and use a bar sloted into an allen key with my full body weight to undo it a quarter turn at a time. Also took me forever to reindex my front deraillier, but at least I know how to do that now!

The pedals is an easy 100g saved, I don't know if it will be a long term change or not though. I am very attached to my mtb shoes. I've made some custom clip in sneakers.
I will get the cockpit next, it'll probably be around 350g I guess. I don't have the budget to get the super light ones. Weight probably won't change much from the current Uno Kalloy and Toseek bar, but it'll look better!
I will do the small things like rotors and bottle cages at some point in the near future.
So I guess the next biggest place to save some weight is the wheelset. The thing is I kinda want deeper wheels 😂 So I have a feeling whatever I get is just going to end up weighing around the same anyway.

I really don't know what to do about the wheelset 😭budget friendly, deep and light are not 3 things that seem to work very well together.
Any and all suggestions would be amazing!

I will take some nicer pictures of this bike at some point.

I had her down to 7.4kg at one point, this was with the uno kalloy stem, toseek handlebar, sisl crankset and aliexpress speedplay pedals with titanium axles.
It's now back up to 7.6kg. I've put the mtb pedals back on and swapped GP5000's for GP4Seasons. 4 seasons are my prefered winter tire, I'd rather feel confident in the wet than be 100g lighter.
I've swapped a 1 piece handlebar stem on it's a variant of The One. It was a huge pain in the ass to route all 4 cables through it and the frame, but I got there in the end. I feel like I can do any job on a bike now after that.
I've been on the lookout for a 165mm cannondale crankset but can't haven't seen any of the lightweight ones on sale since I bought this bike. I'm going to start looking into SRAM and Rotor as alternatives. Aliexpress carbon crankset is also another option.
Next up is the wheelset! Been reading the GoZone thread and they look like an interesting option!
I think if I get it back down to the 7.4kg stage and swap wheelset along with small parts like bottle cages, axles, rotors, computer mount etc. I could possibly get to around 7.1kg. I would love to see sub 7, but I don't know how I'll manage it tbh.

Some updated pictures. New handlebars on, I think the weight of these is pretty much the same as the old uno kalloy + toseek handlebar. SISL cranks + Spidering saved me a lot of weight. Aliexpress titanium speedplays are nice and light, I'm not 100% used to clipping into them yet, need to do a little wiggle but I'm better at it than before.
I think a lighter wheelset and changing the tyres back to GP5000 might get me to around 7kg.
I am thinking about getting an Alugear chainring and mounting it with a cannondale to shimano spider, this will definitely add some weight though 😭
My cassette is 11-34, when I was buying it thought to myself the bigger the better. Since I've had it I've never used the 34 once, don't even think I've been in the 32 tbh. I should have gotten an 11-30 to save some weight, maybe next time.
I've got some new bits on the way, hopefully will be able to shed some more weight soon.

i would try different light wheel sets. those will make the most effective weight reduction for performance gains. then i would swap out saddle, seatpost, and replace with a one piece stem bar like avian canary(but get your positioning right first)

Bike is down to 7.1kg now! I did get a one piece cockpit but it's not really that light 😅, but much lighter than the orginal Cannondale setup that came with the bike.
I got new wheels recently from Go-Zone on AliExpress that weigh 1.2kg. This saved me a lot of weight.
