That's an amazing weight for a non-S-WORKS frame. Congrats! Love all the trial and error, and tiny weight savings here and there that add up to the final weight.
I'm similar in weight and build to you. 169cm and Specialized suggested a 52, but I went for a 49 (Allez Sprint). 110mm stem (slammed no spacers) and also a zero setback seatpost (also RED E1 but 160mm crank arms), but because of the 49 frame size I've got much more seatpost showing than you do, and I have a much greater saddle to bar drop which makes for a very aggressive look and riding position.
As much as I love how my bike looks, at age 49, just looking at your bike, I can tell I'd be a lot more comfortable on it! My next project will be an S-WORKS SL8. Leaning towards a 52, but still tempted to get a 49 for even more weight savings and the same agressive stance I'm getting with the Allez (though 100% logically, looking at your setup I know I'd be much more comfortable on a 52!).

The new handlebar is installed along with new headset bearings from Cane Creek and new Supacaz Suave bartape. The weight is now 5.92kg and the stack is 5mm lower.
I've done 150mi with setup so far and I really like the wider tops compared to the Avian. I assume it's more aero as well.

How's the flex on those nexum bars? Here's hoping darimo has reinforced these bars after seeing a few pictures of failed bars
I believe you can order reinforced version without weight limit, so I would also assume it would be less flexible. Weight penalty is really smallpowerangah wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 3:37 pmHow's the flex on those nexum bars? Here's hoping darimo has reinforced these bars after seeing a few pictures of failed bars

Hows the stiffness on the avian? I'm considering it. I can do around 1300 watts in a sprint. I'm 6' and 165 lbs if that mattersAryeh wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 8:30 pmThe Avian has been great and it's very light at 240g. I'm getting the Darimo because I like the way it looks with the bare carbon. I think it's also about 20g lighter.Ferry wrote:Why are you changing the handlebars, to match with the seatpost. Avian Canary is not that much heavier is it? What are your thoughts on the Avian?
For the price, the Avian is amazing and I have 0 complaints about it.

I think bigger guys have issues with it but it was fine for me. I'm 5' 7" 145lbs.asianwaytgh wrote:Hows the stiffness on the avian? I'm considering it. I can do around 1300 watts in a sprint. JFC the quality on Darimo is just shite. voids are voids. There is no "finishing" on that bar. It's low epoxy content and if there are than many voids on the surface and going well into the material,I would love to see a scan of that bar to see how many voids are permeating the layup.
If this was a china brand, it would be persecuted. Never understood why Darimo keeps getting a pass from people. Their stuff breaks all the time too.
*and I don't mean to derail your thread. The bike is beautiful and love build. Darimo is lacking and that's not your fault.

I've been happy with the bar so far. I don't care about the little imperfections that you only see if you're looking for them.EtoDemerzel wrote:JFC the quality on Darimo is just shite. voids are voids. New brake calipers - Lewis SLR in the camo color.
75g per caliper with pads which makes it about 17g lighter than SRAM Red E1 per caliper.
The bike is now down to 5.89kg and the color of the new calipers matches my bike better.

I'm also interested in performance when you get a chance to ride and form a stable opinion on them.
Given they are lewis they likely use 22mm pistons after starting from the trickstuff design vs the 21mm pistons in E1 which should give slightly stronger braking.
How did you find bleeding and what hose & tools did you use?
Some other details I'm interested in vs stock & other road braking systems you have used before:
How quick they are to engage (deadstroke)
How strong initial engagement is
How much you feel you can access the right level of braking force repeatedly and how modulation is
How linear post pag engagement feels for lever stoke vs braking force
How good piston retraction is and if you get any rotor rub from mild braking forces (unlikely on galfer vs other rotors but still)

A shop did the work so I can't tell you how they did it, but I used EZMTB kevlar hoses. And I'm probably not experienced enough to answer your questions about the braking performance, I don't notice these things unless there's an obvious issue.OtterSpace wrote:I'm also interested in performance when you get a chance to ride and form a stable opinion on them.

The rotor is 10g lighter than Galfer. The computer mount is 12g lighter than the one I was using previously.
Bike is now at 6.19kg according to Kern and 6.175 according to my fish scale. I assume the Kern is correct.
I switched from the Challenge tires to the GP5000TT and they came in quite about 40g heavier than the Challenge tires for the pair, but I rode them outside for the first time yesterday and I got multiple PRs and they feel noticeably faster so I will keep them on despite the weight penalty.
Where did you buy the mount from ? Can't find it anywhere... does it fit nicely on canary bar ?
