Aside from weight, is the new E1 group much better? I know the shifter ergonomics is way better but is shifting noticeable better?

The front derailleur is faster and I haven't had any chain drops yet. I also like the new bonus buttons.
It's also easier to pull the brake levers, so much that now I can brake while in the aero hoods position from the top of the lever near the pivot point.

Just a small update. The ENVE tires were a bad experience. I got flats on both tires together in the middle of a descent and I never had that happen before with any tires. Neither of the holes sealed despite having plenty of sealant.
So I switched back to the Conti TT TR tires and they've been great.
Weight is currently at 5.945kg
I expect the next weight saving to come around November when my Darimo Nexum arrives.Image

Why are you changing the handlebars, to match with the seatpost. Avian Canary is not that much heavier is it? What are your thoughts on the Avian?

The Avian has been great and it's very light at 240g. I'm getting the Darimo because I like the way it looks with the bare carbon. I think it's also about 20g lighter.
For the price, the Avian is amazing and I have 0 complaints about it.

Very nice build. You inspired me for my next project in 2025. Can you please share 3d files of that Varia mount? Its VERY neat!

Man that close up picture doesn't fill me with confidence..

The holes on the underneath edge near the sticker, the voids near the bolt holes.. Scale will look good though!

The pinholes are generally superficial and don't have any impact on the structure of the composite. The voids near the bolts are not good indeed.

Check quality of the bonded joint of the left side of the handlebar with the stem for any issues.

They are clearly using resin infusion with low attention to quality. Fiber distortion, pulling, pinholes, voids, small chunks missing and also seem to be sanding heavily for finish.

Some close up macro photos.
I don't really care about tiny cosmetic defects as long as it's not a safety concern. I prefer the look of the naked carbonImageImageImage

Interesting. They seem to be made in 5 parts? Stem, tops and drops? There is also a bonded seam on the tops underside?

There are too many surface issues that could mean nothing or not, pinholes, voids and distortions, the joints also don’t look good.

The stem clamp seems to show some signs of porosity on the pictures, check for signs of brittleness when torquing.

Inspect it frequently.

The thru axles have been great. I haven't installed the Nexum yet, I haven't had time to bring my bike to the shop.
