Story Time.

A few years back i picked up an F10 frame for a pretty smashing deal and loved everything about the bike except for the paint :?

I wanted a new project to work on so i've decided to convert the bike to EPS and sent the frame off for a new paint job.

I stripped the bike, weighed parts for later reference and sent her off to Ali at FatCreations in the UK.

Fork 390.jpg

Frame: 893g
Seatpost: 141g
Forks (Including stock compression plug): 390g
Total Weight: 1,424g

For the colour, the brief was a dark, deep purple that looked black in some light. For the logos, i was looking for a silver contrast.
Here is the reference i used:

We found a close match with a light flake.

Wow, that paint job looks amazing. I will be curious to see how much weight it added.

Whatever the added paint weight, does not matter with that beauty

Frame arrived on Friday and V happy with the results!

On the weight front, i was expecting it to come back a little bit heavier from the matte finish but surprised with the results!

IMG_5007.jpg

Frame: 900g
Seatpost: 140g
Forks (Including stock compression plug): 379g
Total Weight: 1,419g
Difference: - 5g

Speaking before the job, he said to expect weight to come back around the same or lighter, going from matte to gloss as he would take the finish back between certain layers where factory may not.

Re turnaround time, i sent the frame just before christmas and it just arrived back. I think it would really depend on the current workload but once he actually started work on it, the frame was back to me in around 8-9 days.
