FYI, the skypivot cranks are unsafe to ride. There was a recall due to tons of failures at the pedal insert.

That would be great I actually have a old prototype version I got when I visited the designer on a work trip to China. I'm glad to hear they sort it all out.

Is it possible to order these now? If so can you post a link?

I forgot about those adjustable rear dropouts. A real dream machine back in the day. How is the ride compared to contemporary frames?

For sure it is a little bit more noodly when sprinting, i have never owned a classic geometry before (all my bikes were / are sloping tt). With the wheelbase extended it is suprisingly good in curves. I can safely say that i could do some uphill races on it. It has a more racy feel due to geometry than my previous look 566 and it does not damp vibrations that good. Comparing it to my schmolke it is worse in stifness and road feel.

With the dropouts extended i can safely use 25mm conti tyres on 19mm Inner/26.5 mm outer rims.

Nice Score & build congrats :beerchug:

I had a 381 in Kelme colors & truthfully wished I kept it
I later had a 585 too but that 381 was special and same as your 281turned & descended great
