Yours 5910
Mine 6590
You save:
70 frame
290 wheels
70 seatpost
10 stem
50 bars
40 saddle
30 CS OSPW
120 PM
15 AirTag
50 tyres
20 rotors
765 total
I save (areas you can save):
100 pedals
10 cage
50 rings+ bolts
40 expander
10 hanger
210 total
555 less when corrected
6590 - 555 =
6,035
Missing 125g (hence my request for a full shot)
Having found a picture of your bike, I think you're underestimating / over-estimating a number of areas.
Wheels : my Roval Rapides are 1420, so weight saving is 340, not 290
Tires : your turbo cottons are at least 240 a tire. The Maxxis are 170, so min 140, not 50
Crankset : your d-zero is circa 540 as far as I can tell from looking online, so 200, not 120
Rings : the carbon ti (I have a set) are around 107 in a 50/34, so your saving is 23, not 50
Tubes : unless you also have Revoloop, I suspect there's a further saving there
Frame and Fork : given the colour of your frame and the size, I suspect the saving is more than 70
Rotors : the hope rotors are 69 and 75, so I suspect more than 20 saving
I think that more than accounts for your 'missing' 125g
Not being funny, but I think you should try checking your facts before effectively accusing me of faking a photograph for the sake of gaining recognition from a cycling forum. A quick check of my previous posts and builds would have sufficed.
To be fair to Ryan he has probably built more top end SL7s and weighed them than anyone else so he is coming from a position of experience. I can understand why he would question things as a sub 6 SL7 is an amazing achievement so well done
Thanks.
Point taken on Ryan's post, and I'm being over-sensitive no doubt, but it just felt more like questioning my integrity (I'm paraphrasing, but "I don't believe you and I think you've faked that scale shot by taking it close up") than asking a question about how the weight had been achieved. Lost in translation probably. I'll get over myself I'm sure

Very nice build!)
Sram cassette, Xpedo Thrust SL pedals, lighter brake pads, Trickstuff UL rotors, Carbonworks cages can shave some grams without compromising quality and durability i think )
Cheers for the tips, great stuff. Is the 12 speed SRAM cassette compatible with 12 speed dura ace though? I'd love to go lighter on the pedals, but years of creaking Time Xpressos and Xpros have scarred me sufficiently that I'm going to stick with the heavy - but bombproof and silent - Shimanos.

How do you like the Maxxis tires?
They felt fine round the bike shop car park... Not ridden them properly yet, will post my thoughts once I do. Coming from Conti 5000s, so will be interesting to see what compromises there are for the big weight saving (as there are bound to be some). Hope they don't feel like garden hoses...

Nice ! How much weight your frame? Pictures with rapide?
Cheers.
Sorry, didn't get to weigh the bare frame as went direct to the bike shop for the build and they didn't weigh it. Must be in the 770 ballpark I guess? I'll post some pics with the Rapides shortly.

Nice weight well done
Cheers. It worked out sub 6 kilos on paper (I had a lot of time waiting for it...), but you're never sure until it actually gets put together. Wheels / tires / tubes are a huge factor. Those and the cranks make the majority of the difference.

Yes 12spd Shimano works with 12spd SRAM cassette, but you have to change freehub to XDR (it is lighter too) and there are only 10-26, 10-28 and 10-33 gearings.
You can read about this here
https://bikerumor.com/fair-wheel-bikes- ... vel-build/
Yes, Xpedo Thrust SL is little creakie from time to time, but just add some lube to the springs and noise gone.
Btw, there are 10g heavier version Xpedo Thrust 8 Ti, it has metallic springs and supose to be more durable.

You can order DM hanger here, it is cheaper than Sigeyi but is the same, SPD-TH1 model less then 13 gram
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002133049215.html
Trickstuff rotors is one of the best wich i use on MTB and Road.
But there are Galfer Wave rotors wich is pretty cute looking and perfect working. I use it on my current wheelset.

https://r2-bike.com/GALFER-Brake-Disc-R ... ole-160-mm
I cant find any Carbonwoks cages at stocks for ordering and decide to order this one.

I dont use it and dont know how it works, this is just for your information. My backup variant is

Cheers

Great info, cheers. Interesting that you can mix the SRAM and Shimano 12s. I have an XDR driver for my Extralite wheels and the Rapides, plus some AXS carbon chainrings, Red cassette and flattop chain, so probably have all I need already

Peeled the stickers off my wheels, frame and seatpost for a huge 10g weight saving! Now 5.9 on the nose.
Pics also with Roval Rapide CLX wheels. 6.270 kilos with these - 370g more than with the Extralites

Superb SL7, got to be the lightest one on this site? Excellent build all round.
I don't know it I am being picky, but the grey logo on the Praxis rings stands out too much, I would personally paint over it!

Cheers. And agreed on the logo. Not sure I could paint over it without it looking like a dogs dinner though. I do have to take my Canyon into Carbon Bike Repair in Derby though, so I might see if they can do it

The grey color of Praxis chainrings is removable with acetone. It takes some elbow grease but it's doable. I did it after someone on this forum told me it works

Thanks for the tip! Does removing the grey leave black underneath, or do you then need to repaint? Cheers, Dave
