Very short ride as I'm injured at the moment (and the big gears don't help in that regard!), but so far so good.

It’s got that old bike ‘fast steam train’ feel to it - takes a bit to get it moving, but once it’s up to speed it rips along! Not at all harsh either, which is a relief.

Tried a set of Sachs New Success levers on it, but I can't get them to play nicely.

They suit the bike well, though - as does the blue tape:

After stripping this to sell only for it to not sell, I'm currently developing plans to rebuild it.

Likelihood is essentially the same build except with Corima wheels (retaining the French theme) and a quill stem; and I might try something interesting with the Mavic cranks.

Stupidly I sold the set of Mavic cranks I had thinking I wouldn't need them again, though, so I'll have to source a fresh set of those!

+1 for the Corima wheels !!

I would keep the 1"1/8 stem, it looks better with the integrated headset

Nicely done on the bike

I just picked up a vitus/peugeot frame off craigslist on the cheap. I was thinking of polishing to mirror finish but the three main tubes are slightly different color, anyone know if they are anodized?

Found some earlier Corimas locally that are more 'period correct' and have the original decals that better match the frame graphics:

Just waiting for the replacement cranks to arrive now.
