Got the seatpost yesterday and stem (2nd hand but good condition) today.
Seatpost was from eBay. Not cheap in an absolute sense, but definitely in the relative sense.
I wasn't sure about the whole Link thing, but then saw a few threads on here and it seemed like quite a nice post.
Took almost 90g off the previous Giant carbon post I had. 350 x 27.2. 15mm setback.
The stem. Ahhh.... the stem!! I've been trying to get a hold of one of these at a reasonable price for a long time. They came out, what, 8-10 years ago? Great reviews all round, then 3T go and make the Arx II, which personally I don't like quite as much. Then they make the... Apto?!?! I don't quite get that stem, and it seems a lot of others don't either... I always see them on sale.
Anyway.
I nearly got an Arx Ltd stem, it was on sale at Chain Reaction, I purchased it and and then my order was lost! Back to the drawing board. Had a look around, nearly bought an MCFK on sale over here (2nd hand, of course), then found this. 10mm longer than I had orginally intended, but as I'm riding more and my flexibility is improving I almost need a 100mm. SO I've purchased it and installed it as an aspirational component.
All wankery aside, it's a great stem. 100mm with Ti bolts, 121g, so 27g less than the 90mm FSA that was on there before.
So a 115ishg weight loss brings me to a final (!) weight of 6.5kg!
I'll try to get a shot soonish, but to be honest, I want to keep improvoing flexibility so I can drop and invert my stem. Right now it's a nice bike, but I think it'll be more photogenic when the stem is semi-slammed.
Cheers all!
Any many thanks to all the members who make this site what it is.... a haven for weight weenies!
