There's no such thing as original white cadex decals. They come black, the white ones were custom for the actual pro team bikes

The wheels match the bartape but when I get my cadex 65s I'll likely switch to white bar tape and white cadex letters on both wheels.

After staring at my bike and doing some light maths i belive i can get pretty close to 6.5kg without having to drill holes in anything or run tubulars yet.

The handlebars and cranks will have all the paint/decals removed soon

This thread is giving me stupid ideas for my ISP.

seat/clamp/light- 303.2g
Saddle-138g
Light assembly-49.6
Saddle clamp -115.6 :o

Maybe drilling a hole in the seat post like that isnt the best move yet.
Im going to look into fabricating or 3D Printing a fixed seat mount. i dont need all that adjustment.

Not going to lie, when I ordered the expander, I was so excited about the weight savings I totally forgot about the OD2 variable. Once it arrived tho I was pleasantly surprised it said it can do 1-1/4 aswell

More goodies arrived last night

Supacaz bar plugs are 28g combined!
Domain CF plugs 5g total weight

Chipping away at this fatty.

Weight savings thus far
Headset bearing cover-
6.5g to 1.8= 4.7g
Centerlock Rings (combined)-
33.6g to 11.6= 22g
Bar plugs-
28.2 to 5g= 23.7g
Expander plug-
45g to 5.7g= 39.3

Total weight savings = 89.7g

Just ordered the Deda bar tape (white), as much as i love the reflective bar tape for a multitude of reasons. Its probably the heaviest bar tape on the market at a claimed 150g vs deda 29g, i couldnt pass up such low hanging fruit.

UPDATE on Ultralite Expander for OD2

Extralites insructions say it can do up to 1-1/4 (27.2).
My TCR OD2 ID is 27.4. Initially it was able expand enough to not be able to move by hand but when tightening the cap it pulled up. My soloution was a single layer of clear packing tape inside the first 2" of the fork to act as a shim. While this only gave me a measured ID of 27.3, it just enough to expand snuggly in the fork and i was able to torque the cap to spec.

Light weight packing tape shim.
Image

If this didnt work i would have tried a second layer or maybe upgrade to gaf tape.

Finally got my cadex 65 and took them for a super quick ride in 30 degree weather. Wheels feel incredible, I love these wheels compared to the hunt wheels. Either returning or reselling the Hunts

Front end feels a little less responsive but I'm gonna chalk it up to that tiny ultralite expander. I don't think it's able to apply enough expansion pressure and it almost feels like the fork tube it's flexing if that makes any sense.

So I just ordered the carbon ti expander, cap and bolt. That's 5.8g expander is so tempting but on my first ride with this new setup, i didn't like how the feedback from the bars felt. I'm not going to risk it, I'll just have to eat that few g difference in the name of safety and peace of mind.

15.1 current cap and screw
5.8 extralite expander
Total-20.9

Carbon ti expander 17g*
Carbon to cap/bolt 6g*
Total-23g*

Whoa, very cool extralite steerer tube expander! I've been hunting for one that fits OD2 for a while. What topcap bolt are you using with it? I've getting mixed signals from Giant as to what works. I curently have a 22mm long M6 bolt with my current topcap and another Giant stem that came with a 35mm long bolt. :noidea:

I'm very tempted to sell my titanium bike and buy a Giant TCR. Have heard some scary things about the ISP though, that if you don't cut it completely straight it will start to rock/yaw, which can weaken the edge of the carbon post. Have you have any problems with this?

No, nor have i heard of this issue. I cut my seatpost myself with a grinding disc and no issues. Maybe on the earlier ISP froms the 2000s. The way this seat mount is designed i cant see it developing any movement. The seatpost slides at least 2" into the mount and fits it snug. You can also get a non ISP TCR too.
