Complaining about the weight of disc brakes when choosing the heaviest equipment isn't really fair now is it? You have ee's on your other tarmac so you are really comparing bottom level stuff with the highest end options.

I totally understand what you're saying. Ive mentioned a couple times now that the world of disc is all new to me and still learning what the light weight options are. More importantly, Im also to a point where I've spent all my funds, so right now, I'm just getting the used parts from friends, which will allow me to get it completed and rideable. I'll invest into lighter parts at a later date. What I was implying about "no wonder disc bikes weigh so much more" was simply regarding to the fact that the extra parts that rim brakes don't have add up quickly.icantaffordcycling wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 11:38 pmComplaining about the weight of disc brakes when choosing the heaviest equipment isn't really fair now is it? Bike is built up but still not complete. I still need to fiddle with the derailleurs. Never been good at indexing, but it's getting close. I also need to get the brake fluid put in and then finish it off with bartape.
I'm LOVING how it turned out. Exactly how I envisioned it!
Currently weighing in at 6.95kg, but still need the hydraulic brake fluid and bartape

It's close, but no I still need to come forward a little to match the Darimo position. I can't afford the Darimo right now, so I'm going to have to ride with the saddle all the way forward for now. Not ideal for the rails, but I'll have to make due for the time being.
Unfortunately, I find it to be the ugliest seatpost. It looks like it is in backwards. So that being said, it really only leaves the Darimo as what I would purchase.
The Specialized Pavé 0-offset post is also available, it's a bit heavier though but looks better.
I didn't realize the Pave was an option, thank you. I'll look further into that.Visqu wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 8:29 pmThe Specialized Pavé 0-offset post is also available, it's a bit heavier though but looks better.
Result looks great. A 0mm offset seatpost will complete the build but good job nonetheless, lovely!

Bike looks slick, are you running 160mm rotors front and back?
Yeah I'll be excited to get a proper seatpost installed. Cant wait to ride this thing!
Yeah for now. I was running THIN on budget and actually went over by about $500. A friend had these and sold them to me for cheap. I'll change these out and run 140mm eventually when I can save up the funds again. I've read that 160/140 is popular as well.robbosmans wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 9:56 amBike looks slick, are you running 160mm rotors front and back?
