It's not a super obvious option on Specialized dealer portal. but I think in most country a Spec dealer should be able to order rims only for many roval models.

Thank you!!ome rodriguez wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 12:05 amVery nice! Like the frame color and quite light for a 56 build.
Where did you buy roval alpinist rims only?
You can order alpinist rims from your local Spec dealer. I ordered from concept store.

Yes, exactly. Claimed weight on clx alpinist is 1253, So it saved me nearly 55g + i got much better hubs.
I saved near 10g from spokes and nipples. Rembember that it its 24 + 21 spokes on a orginal alpinist wheelset, And i ordered two rear rims 24+24 so actually i added three spokes and nipples. The new 180 hubs saved around 40g compared with roval hubs.
How would you characterize them as better?BREW2 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 10:39 amYes, exactly. Claimed weight on clx alpinist is 1253, So it saved me nearly 55g + i got much better hubs.

Looking at the pics, the Roval hubs seem to have bigger flanges and their internals are probably based on 240EXP.
So you're really trading durability and stiffness for less weight, though you did gain 3 spokes for the front.
Nothing against the 180EXP, I have two wheelsets with those, just wondering where you see the value proposition.

Yes, correct it based on 240 exp but roval making the body. The only thing that is dt-swiss is the internals.
I have been disappointed on my last hubs on clx 64 and clx 32 and on my mtb wheels control sl. All have the same problem and it feels like its to much resistance when you spin the axle, i think the tolerance in the body is the problem. Another example is endcaps on roval hubs often is to tight against the body/shell so its scrape the inside.
Sounds bad, I've also had some tolerance/assembly related issues with DT hubs too.BREW2 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 4:16 pmVisqu wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 10:51 amHow would you characterize them as better?BREW2 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 10:39 amYes, exactly. Notice that i ment roval hubs and not dt-swiss. Have not felt any problems ever with dt swiss hubs.
Yes, I was trying to say that I've had issues with DT, not Roval.BREW2 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 8:07 pmVisqu wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 6:42 pmSounds bad, I've also had some tolerance/assembly related issues with DT hubs too.BREW2 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 4:16 pmVisqu wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 10:51 am

Nice build. Is that front hose at its final length? It looks like it's going to rub the head tube.
The Aethos expander and thruaxles are a really nice weight! Wonder if I can get the local Specialized dealer to order some in for me. Seems like weight weenie parts that have the backing of a big manufacturer vs. some potentially more suspect boutique parts...
