Ok, looking for some wheel advice for my build. I've decided to go with tubulars, but what wheels to use??

Options I have so far are:

Extralite CyberDisc 338T
Caden (deCADENce) 25mm
Lightweights
Custom built

I haven't found too much user experience with the Caden wheels but the price and weight are solid. The Extralites are about the same weight but are a little deeper so the aero will be slightly better (not the highest priority but it helps). And of course the Lightweights are stiff and exotic, but not that light by comparison and the rim profiles seem a little dated (correct me if I'm wrong).

Any feedback on these or other options?

Thanks in advance 👍🏼
Hi
I don't own them, but tubular deCadence are really becoming popular in Spain. There are very light (more due to hubs than rims), reasonably priced, and they are known for excellent customer service. In the local forum people really praise how questions are addressed and how they take ownership of any defect in the wheel setup.

I wrote to them to get rim weights and question if the rim wheels were valid for ciclo cross; to which they answered no (where as Boras are quite common).

Alongside being light (and in accordance to published weights) they are known to be stiff and quite aero.
My impression after reading quite a bit is that you will get support if there is any quality issue but I get the feeling they are not as strong as Campy or Enve wheels.

Took a while to get everything lined up but parts are now starting to come in. Love seeing what others have done with their builds. Here are some pics of the parts I have so far. Build pics will come later as I wait for some key items.

Some more parts pics.

Next up is to build the wheels with Berd spokes, wait for the Alpitude and Darimo parts, and build everything up!

A lot of Aethos build popping in here now, but I've been waiting for the lightest one.

Coming along nicely! I think you'll be getting pretty close to the 5kg mark

Yes, sorry I should have given more details. Rims are FarSports FSD25T-W23DSL. I'll be lacing them to the Extralite hubs with black Berd spokes and mounting 25mm tan sidewall Victoria Corsa Speed Tubulars. Wheels alone should be about 780g without tape, tires, and rotors.

I'll be using KCNC Kasditor rotors with black Ti bolts. The tubular tape will be Effetto Mariposa Carogna.

I also have a set of 45mm wheels built the same way except for normal bladed steel spokes. Those are for when I want a little more aero and to lighten my Venge on hilly race days.

That's the plan! I may not chase 5kg just yet, but it will be close 😀. I'll save the obsessive gram counting after I've enjoyed the bike a bit lol.

Hello

Question toward mounting of saddle: would it be possible to use 7x10 rails or will only 7x9 fit the new seatpost?

802g of beauty. Can't wait to rip up a steep climb.

More parts forthcoming.

Well it took way too long and updates were nonexistent until now. Here's my Aethos build. 5.16 kg ready to roll 😃. Just need to tweak positive a little after a shake out ride, bit it's currently raining 🙁. Enjoy!

Excellent, beautiful build!!
Did you choose the tires cuz of weight? or Both weight & druability?

Tires were chosen for weight and speed. They are certainly not going to be durable!
