So if the frame is in that phase, you have the finish scheme sorted? As for me, the more I think about it, the more I think I will have to stay on the classic side - no colour, "just" polished / brushed contrast...CustomMetal wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 12:06 pmNot mine but an interesting insight for anyone considering a custom bike into what Tom can do!!

So... the first one is just getting a frame upgrade as Tom has just had a bit of a brake through... that is the MonsterX one.
Tom has alarmist finished all the R&D for the aero bike and then will start on the lugged steel one.
I am hoping for March/April for the first, May June for the second in and Julyish for the third..

Also for those wondering 'Allegra' is basically a cross between a colnago master and a Battaglin Marosticana but better and the lugs will all be stainless steel.. the fork blades will be straight blades stainless... just deciding on the other tubes.. think I know on paint
The printed stainless quill stem should be a thing of beauty!!

What are your thoughts around tubing? Honestly why not XCr everywhere? Or you would like to get more old school on the front and go for Spirit maybe? Cento?
Besides, for a road classic Sturdy, what would you think about Bike Beat wheels? They prepare 46mm deep 19mm internal wheels..looks like a solid allrounder for me and made in Germany

I am tempted to go darimo instead of deda for Seatpost and bars... but then that's not Italian!
Tom is not a huge fan of XCR. It is heavier than spirit and not as fun to ride in his opinion... I would paint it anyway as XCR doesn't like to be exposed as I am discovering with my Saffron. Besides the saffron already ticks the need for a stainless bike
