I've had this frame sitting around for a while as I bought the newer model Urgestalt. It was at a stupid price I just couldn't say no to, plus the old frame had some damage from multiple chain drops.

I also crashed the frame two years ago (me 12 broken ribs and more) I knew I couldn't ever sell it. So with a quite expensive frame gathering dust I thought it was about time to do something with it.

I decided i should get the damage repaired and use the bike as a spare, but then I thought I dont want 3 black bikes. Umm decisions on a colour.

I've always loved the Ford GT40 in liquid red, the colour just pops.

So after many emails back and forth with Glen from Paint my Bike my frame was packed and sent.

The frame was sent today, so hopefully I will receive it in a week or so.

I really wanted to build the bike with spare parts so no more outlay was needed.
Well that went completely wrong. Over the last few months parts have been trickling in, some still to arrive.

Parts to come.
Darimo 3K gloss stem and bars with gold decals.
Carbonworks cages and Garmin mount.
Berk 3K gloss Lupina saddle with red bridge and gold decal to match frame and 3K top cap.

I've also sent a piece of my seatpost to Darimo to make me the post in 3K to. This took a lot a persuading and getting another forum member interested before he said yes. This will make a huge weight saving as the propriety post and clamp are 200g.ImageImage

The bike will be built with DA DI2 FD, RD, 9150 crank with 4iiii PM.
9070 DI2 shifters and bar end Junction.
DA 11-28 cassette.
Jagwire cables.
EEs gen 4 with red badge.
Berk saddle and top cap.
Xpresso 12s.
Carbonworks cages and Garmin mount.
Darimo bars, stem and post.
Obermayer Schwartz edt with veloflex Carbon tyres.

Still deciding if to go for a gold KMC chain and full red bar tape.

Not to sure weight wise, probably about 5.8-6kg.

Many thanks, cant wait to receive it.
Obviously better pics to follow.

Next step is to get the frame and fork Ceramic coated.

Actually going to attempt the build myself, with constant supervision from a mate.
A little nervous but I need to learn to build my own bikes.

A few more items were delivered today.

Unfortunately a problem with the Darimo bars as he forget to drill 3 holes for my internal cabling.
They weren't even supposed to send the items until I had sent a paint code for my decals to match my frame.
Dont know why they made these mistakes as they have always been so helpful with prior purchases.
I suspect im now going to have to send back the bars as I doubt they will want me to drill the holes.
Not to happy about the situation.

Very happy with the Garmin mount from Carbonworks, looks stunning. Bottle cages also to match.

Wow, that paint job looks stunning. Do you have code for it?

Is it this by any chance? PN2BD, SM1238

Many thanks Rishie.

I sent this code to the painter but there are quite a few different shades of Liquid red.

Our main problem was trying to get the Urgestalt block lettering underneath in a darker red to stay red. Twice it came out a brownish colour so had to start all over again.

With this now in mind he made up his own colour.
I'm very happy with the result and looking forward to receiving it.

Unfortunately the build wont go ahead as I started above Darimo made an error with the bars.
No bars no bike. ImageImage

Thanks for that.

I’m sorry to hear about your Darimo issues, I hope they can provide a suitable solution. I and I’m sure many others love to see the finished build.

More parts have been trickling in.
EE gen 4 second hand at a price I couldn't refuse.
Managed to save 4.2g by changing the mounting bolt.

Still unsure if to go full red bar tape so got the Traforato in black as well as a quite heavy Deda black/red tape.

This tape does feel nice though.
What do you guys reckon, full red first or to much. !!

I'd choose black/red tape, although it's porky.
Maybe there is a lighter version (similar look) on the market...?

This is going to be very special....I'd also go with the red/black or just full black.
How much did the paintjob set you back btw?
