Hello all,

Well it finally happened, I took it for a decent run this evening!
First a quick 20km loop, just to check everything. I was having a good time and nothing fell off, so I decided to do one of my favourite 40km (ish) loops.
It rode really well, quick to accelerate, good
under brakes and well behaved through all the gears.
The down tube shifter performed well and actually reminded me of my first 10 speed I had as a kid (only this time all 10 gears are on one side)
A good mix of inclines, flats and descents (as much as possible in urban Tokyo) I felt the bike handled everything well.
No strange noises either, which is always a win.
Felt great to finally ride it after years of planning and anticipation.

Cheers!

I may have spoken too soon on that one MrCurrieinahurry.
Noticed a very slight intermittent creak in the BB after giving it a good thrashing last night.
It is a press fit so I guess that's almost expected.......

Wow! What a nice build thread with true customization. It takes true balls to modify a rare limited edition frame. Plus, if you *f##k* up there are not too many carbon repair shops in Japan that I know of. It's nice to see downtube shifters again. I have some old school BTP downtube shifters laying around somewhere but I never got around to doing what you did because I am scared to do it!!!........but thought about doing it for 5 years or so. Great work!!!!!!!

How did you install in? Grease or loctite? Sorry if you mentioned it previously, I may well have missed it.

Many thanks Godzuki26,
The idea was in my head for many years before I got around to actually doing it (ever since first seeing Gunter Mai's machine). I was worried at times, but so far it has worked flawlessly (I was planning for all kinds of issues, especially with the carbon fixing bolt but so far none have occured) If i get really sentimental I know of another 54cm swift NOS frame in Taiwan, probably a leftover from the Taipei cycle show.
I'd love to see you create something with those BTP's, maybe even with a Ti frame??
All the best.

Hi Lewis K,
I used nail polish! French made of course as I'm trying to keep this bike Euro.....
Provides a loose lock and doesn't hinder removal. I have used loctite as well, which works well.
The problem was it needed to re-torqued, all good now!

I used Elite Jet 160s, road tyre (mine came in at 155g each)

I used the Tufo elite jet 160 for this build, it is the lightest road rated tyre.
Mine weighed in at around 153g each, which was quite impressive.
I would recommed that you stay with the Elite jet 160s for street use, mine have held up very well so far.
Elite jets are supposed to last 500-1000 km, I'm intending to test that. I can't imagine a track tyre lasting more than a couple of rides.
I would just like to stress to everyone reading this that my bike was weighed with elite jet 160 road tyres with 100psi.

Cheers
