Hi guys used to post on here about 10 years ago (Currieinahurry) Took a break from the bike but recently got this off ebay.

I know it's not the newest or lightest but she's bloody sweet. Di2 is great (used to have record)

Needs the tape doing again wahoo roam coming soon and stem will be changed out for a 110mm.
Wheels prob ain't the best for me as a little fatter than I used to be but they haven't exploded yet..

Bmc teammachine slr01 55cm
Di2 ultegra
Stilletto spada wheels
3t team ergonova bars
3t team stealth stem 90mm
Conti grand prix 4000
Selle italia
Speedplay zero chromo
1 giant carbon cage
1 Arundel side loader cage slrImage

BMC does seem to be under-represented on here...the old Slr01 is still one of the best bikes I've ridden.

I feel like I see that every time someone talks about this bike. People seem to absolutely love it. I'm curious what was so great about it? Was it the one Cadel rode when he won TDF?

Yep the Cadel model and Gilbert's WC bike. I'm not going to use the usual cycling review superlatives...imo BMC just got the special sauce right on this one (for my riding style at least). I built up a 2011 SLR01 wih SRAM Red just because I was bored, now it's my main bike. I sold my Bianchi Infinito because the SLR is more comfortable than the Countervail equiped endurance bike. I will most likely sell another 2 out of my stable (Izalco Max and Supersix HiMod).

You guys got any pics of bmcs with some deeper rims on? It's a bloody minefield far worse than 12 or so years ago trying to choose slme wheels.. Especially as I'm not sure what width of wheel and tyre will work with this bike..

I'm pretty sure it's similar, but I had 50mm wheels on my SLR03. I know my Wilier is undoubtedly faster, but the BMC was a great package for weight, position, and comfort. Just a fantastic riding bike all around. Wouldn't mind getting a new SLR01 in my stable eventually.

Welcome back mate - we used to speak on here a bit when I first switched to road (and moved to London) about 13/14yrs ago - my username was 'Rich-Ti' back then. I joined the Kingston Wheelers briefly, but then became a Dynamo. I'm now in Sydney.

Bike looks good. I've always liked BMC 8)

Those black metal railings look very Pimlico?!

@MrCurrieinahurry what happened? Doesn't look like handlebar smashed the top tube, too close to the head tube.

This happened to me several times as well. Road rash heals, but tough luck if the frame gets damaged. Any plans yet as to what to replace the frame with?
