After finishing my built on the Barco and the Colnago I found my self wondering through the Internet for something to trigger my curiosity. My eye set on a 80s Gios compact evolution Pro.
So it was a matter of time to aquisite it, and so I did in new years eve.
I am planning to built a neo retro bike.
I bought the frame in an excellent for its years condition considering that's its 30 years old.
I am planning to built it all Italian pantographed with a modern groupset mixed with nos parts.
The frame will be treated as appropriate.
To be continued. ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Not to slot myself into an age group but reminds me of a younger day. This is definitely drool candy for me and down tube shifters would be the icing on the cake.

I totally agree on that but because of an accident I had I cannot use downtube shifters for me it's more practical

Given it's a smaller size it shouldnt be too hard to find one somewhere second hand. My Gios came without the original fork too but it's a larger size so it was a trickier proposition. I enquired with Gios but they only take orders in Italy/don't ship out of Italy, I ended up buying a fork from another builder. Same fork crown but without the pantography.

As i consider my self very lucky guy i have found an original gios compact fork just for my bike size at a striking deal on the turn of the year and just acquired it without losing   any time.Nice 2020

Absolutely stunning! Can’t wait to see the finished bike. The one thing about vintage bikes I could not get comfortable with was handlebars. modern bars are so much more comfortable, but there are few that fit quill stems. Check out the Soma Hwy One handlebar. Highly recommended

As a fellow Gios owner I'm looking forward to seeing this complete.
