Mounting hardware is ordered!
One part of me really wants this bike under 7KG, and the other wants to not spend a ton of money on it, or have super fragile components. I'd spent the last few days hovering my trigger finger on getting a Darimo seatpost but i just couldn't do it. Too much money on one component, right now at least.
I did decide to order some more J&L and Hylix stuff as I've been impressed with what I have ordered, spent 100USD and got
- Hylix 25.4 Zero Setback Seatpost, has Ti hardware and a carbon cradle for a total claimed weight of 145g @400mm. My short legs means I can probably cut at least 100mm off that and hopefully save around 15g or so! Will resell the C2 post on and recoup the cost.
J&L Front Thru Axle - I'm already running the bolt on skewer from them in the rear and no complaints so this was a very good weight saving for only $20
J&L Expander Plug - To replace the stock boat anchor! Also pretty cheap!
Plan for now is to build and shakedown the bike in the next week or so once the brake hardware arrives, planning a pretty leisurly 40km with a friend who is trying out SPD's for the first time. I'll fit the new parts above over the Christmas break.
Will try and get some snaps of the bike as it sits tomorrow if this storm dies down.

Thanks!
Right now, 6.7Kg without brake calipers or chain!
Yes my seatclamp was only 8g. Nice to not have to buy another part! I used to own a Synapse myself
Yeah I'm happy with how it's shaping up considering I'm only in the bike for around 2K including 2 sets of carbon wheels. I don't think it will ever get to the lightness of some of the builds here, but I haven't won the lottery! (Yet )
The Synapse was an alloy model that never got a build thread since it was before I was really interested in saving weight. Weighed about 8.5kg IIRC. Most of the parts from the Supersix came from that build!
I think this is only photo I have with it fully built, if you've any questions though let me know
Had a day off so I wheeled it out in its current state for some nicer photos since I'm never here during the day
It's no show pony of a build as the rear mech has some battle scars and there's nicks and scuffs around , but glad to report none by me! Means I'm less prescious about it I guess!
Current weight without chain and calipers is 6.54kg

So after getting the hardware for the brakes, turns out the previous owner had rounded off the threads on the res bolt in the shifter. It was beginning to feel like the build that will never end!
Ordered that up and it arrived at the start of the week and I was finally able to make some more progress.
Brakes are bled, cables are ran, crank is in and mounted. Everything is torqued, greased and lubed up.
Only downside was it was 11pm when all this got done so while it's ready to ride, I'll need to wait until Monday to actually dial it in. New discs and pads so they need to be bedded in and I'll make some fit adjustments since this is way more aggressive than my last bike. Luckily there is a park with a path all the way around near my house so that is the perfect location!
Hylix/J&L parts are yet to arrive annoyingly, but once they do I'll be under the magical 7kg (with pedals and garmin)
Plans from there on will be all small changes since I'm already happy with it. Lighter headset bearings and a lighter chain once those parts wear out would be the only things.

Annnnd we're done!
Needs some fit and gear adjustments but I rolled the completed bike out of the house tonight for a tentative cycle around the block. All my Hylix and J&L stuff arrived so I've fit the new Seatpost and TA. Yet to fit the expander plug. That and the spindles for my pedals are next on the list. Under my target weight which I'm super happy with considering this wasn't built with really any boutique parts!
That weight includes bottle cage and pedals. No bar tape yet as I've gotten a little bit of disposable income come in so I'm gonna get some schmolke shifter clamps!
Really need to dig out my A7 and get some nice shots of it too...

Took it for a slightly longer spin tonight to bed then new pads in.
First impressions are it is noticeably stiffer than the Ribble, and feels much lighter (even though it is!)I've been stretching and working on getting in a more aggressive position so the spacers will probably go soon enough, but I want to get for a longer spin before saying for certain.
Still need to dial in the fit, the saddle is too low and a few other small things. Glad to have something i can ride though.
Rigged up the lighting outside as good as I can at 9pm for a beauty shot too since this thread has been light on photos!

I'm starting to prep my everyday wheels since ill be emigrating soon and I will be commuting on this bike so needs something more cheaply replaced than tubs and CL discs.
Picked up these generic Chinese wheels a while back, totally blacked out, 6 bolt, novatec hubs. Weight is actually pretty competitive vs the Primes (pretty sure they are just a Chinese rebrand anyway)
Plan is Ai2 rotors 160/140, with tubolitos and GP4K's. Should be around 260 with tires and tubes which is about what my Arenburgs weight anyway!
Managed to win a bid for one rotor for 2 euro on eBay so that was nice! Matches the build too!
PS : any suggestions for rides around the Vancouver area!?
