An Extralite stem (120mm -12°) came in at 89 grams, the Zipp SL Sprint came in at 168 grams. A total of 79 grams saved there! :)

I'm waiting for an Mcfk handlebar (176 grams), a lightweight PYC chain (231 grams) and some J&L titanium quick release skewers (36 grams). Then the bike will weigh 6600 grams!

Thanks! - I like how there is a space (although tiny) between the steerer tube and the handlebar drops when viewed from the side. :)

I decided to go a bit more extreme with the weight saving and have started to remove the paintjob on the frame;

I'm about 4 hrs in to what I expect to be a 20 hr job.

Seems like you should probably dismantle the bike at this point to do the paint stripping properly...

Are you going to put the the logos back on or leave it as a plain Jane?

I don't know if vinyl decals would look very good or last very long. I think I'll paint something on using water based acrylic paint (I can always scrape it off if I get tired of it).

Some J&L titanium skewers coming in at 38 grams saved 33 grams over the Zipps;

I used 303 Aerospace Protectant as suggested by member jorisee01;

It gave the frame a clean glossy finish which looks great!;

Here's a quick update on the project.

The bike has now recieved some skeletonized shifters from fellow WW-member 4ibanez's old build. The modifications of the shifters saved around 30 grams;

Image

Also some Lightweight Standard Gen 2 tubulars has been fitted saving a couple of hundred grams. The wheels weigh significantly more than they ought to so I believe there is a lot of old sealant in the tubes;

Image

Currently it weighs in at roughly 6,2 kgs.

Looks great!
What sort of tyre clearance are you getting on this frame?
I see you’re running tubulars so are those 25mm? And how much space to the frame?
I seem to think 23mm is the max but hope I’m wrong, seen one on eBay in my size!

Thanks!
