Orbea Orca OMR Custom Paint @ Fat Creations

My Orca has gone through a few changes nost noticabily ditching the Lightweight wheels and replacing with the faster 404 tubs.

While I like the Cofidis paint job I loved the Movistar blue fade so I did my take on it.

Ali at fat creations is in constant communication at different stages to double check all is well.

The hard labouring part is sanding the frame back I think he said about 20 ish hours to do this.


Then the Navy blue with gold flakes, followed by the lighter blue.


Ready to spray the logos back on.




The flattened down ready for polishing.


Finally completed


the custom paint added just 52g which is great given the quality over stock.

Total weight as you see it is bang on 6.8 kgs

I like the subtle take on the Movistar paint - makes you look twice and screws your head up (in a good way). Pattern recognition algorithms in the subconscious say "Movistar Canyon Ultimate", at the same time as other parts of the brain are saying something else. Works particularly well because the Orca frame is similar to (but different from) the Ultimate..

The Orca OMR frame is amazing and so responsive, was quicker on the climbs than my Lightweight Urgestalt with Orbermayers.

Really like the way it turned out.

I wrapped the thing in ventureshield as my bikes are magnets for stone chips.
