Godzuki, I have used tubeless tape over only spoke holes with good results. ~2-3g for a wheelset. I also have set it up in that configuration and ran them tubeless on the road with no hiccups.
@Dudemanppl - thanks for the tip. I never thought of doing it that way. Did you use the Stans branded rim tape? I have Rox tape which is supposed to be much lighter but I do not know how it will play with the sealant fluid.

@godzuki my friend just had an ND Tuned SC 32 built up by poynt with the OVR and carbon steerer with HOPP parts. His weighed 1220 for a boost 29" fork before cutting the steerer. I expect it to be barely under 1200g once he finishes cutting it, but that will have to wait until his Gemini combo arrives. He was very surprised by the performance of the fork, it needs further adjustments but so far so good!
@Tonytourist - that is good to hear! Is your friend on an Sworks Epic?

Yeah, that's his build. After the Gemini combo I'm not sure what else can be done, within reason
He could have saved some weight on the fork if he stripped the legs but he wanted it to be all black and stealthy. poynt was a huge help, what a guy!

Yep, I used Stan's, I do it for every wheelset I do to save weight for free
With the Maxxlite tires (heavier than claimed) and the Tubolito Tubes mounted, the wheel set weighs 1734 grams. I can save another 4 grams or so if I use Dudemanppl's partial spoke hole taping method which I will do once my Stans tape comes in.

What type of axles? It seems like Shiftup is completely out of stock on their Carbon axles that I once saw fully available on R2Bike.com. I haven't heard when they will be available again but they are the lightest available to consumers. The next lightest of course are the Extralites. I need all the help I can get to reach 6000 grams for this build and maybe I can get some prototype axles to test out like these listed below. Hopefully there is more to come on on this thread with these beautiful and wicked light Fox Boost 110mm and Scott 148mm axles shown below:

I cannot go wrong with an Extralite headset for this build. The KCNC Morion is still the lightest but they are no longer available so this will have to do.

I was getting ready to prep the frame for matte clear when I noticed a ton of tacky residue left behind from the vinyl stencil I used to spray paint the decals. I notice that I cannot spray clear over this. It also does not rub off easily. If I use something like Goof Off, it will leave a waxy layer not suitable for paint adhesion. If I use acetone, it will destroy the spray paint. Uggggghhh. How do I get this gunk off without destroying the paint? Tip is not to use a heat gun hoping to make the vinyl stick better. I did it because I thought it would prevent the spray paint from seeping under the vinyl. I may have to start all over

I'd use something like IPA or disc brake cleaner. Not as strong as acetone but doesn't leave silicon residue behind like wd40 or gt85
