Those tires sure did balloon up huge! What’s their effective width when inflated and how much room have you got at the chainstays?

Frame colour is lovely, rich. Not a fan of the chain and pulleys colour though.

They measure almost 32mm inflated but still have plenty of room on the chainstays, about 4mm to each side. And the chain and pulley looked much darker on the website when I ordered them. I’ll swith to a black chain when the ufo coating runs off and an all black OSPW and put the blue one on my defy.

Love it! Would think the bike would be sub 7kg for having top tier parts on it.

Sub 7 was the goal and after all that work, hunting down each part and putting it all together I was a little annoyed when I finally got to weigh it. Although, I’ve found most people weigh theirs without pedals, cages and cpu mounts in which case it is under 7kg.

It's the paint.

Actually, my previous rim brake TCR SL with Sram Red mechanical, Giant Carbon cockpit and Reynolds Assault wheels was exactly 6.8kg with pedals cages and comp mount, so with disc brakes and those fairly heavy enve wheels that is a good weight, and yeah, the paint adds a bit too.

A riding buddy had his painted the same color as yours. I just used a spray can to paint mine (and it came out pretty great too)

Our bikes are very alike, but yours is 170g lighter! I think the saddle, pedals, stem and bars on my bike viewtopic.php?f=10&t=154608 are lighter than yours, and while my crankset/PM and bottle cages are heavier than yours, I'm a bit surprised that the net result would be 170g. What size is your bike? Mine is an ML but yours looks similar and can't be any smaller than a M. Maybe it's the paint... Hmm...
EVO1 | 5.37kg
EVO3 (sold) | 6.51kg
EVO4 | build thread coming soon
S5 Disc
SystemSix (sold) | 8.01kg
P5 Disc | heavy but fast

Respectable weight, you could go for a few lighter items that won't break the bank and hit 6.8kg but I gotta say I can imagine this rides pretty smooth already.

Congratulations on the build, and the custom paint is well worth the few grams.

Be careful in wet or dirty roads, the paint of the underside of my fork crown already shows paint primer.

That’s a sweet bike, I like the red they went with this year so much better than last years green on green. My bike is a M, so that’s probably where the weight difference comes from. And the paint only added 57 grams to the frame, I weighed it before and after. Ron Jones paints all the custom specialized bikes ridden by the pros, like Sagan and Alaphilippe, so he knows how to keep the weight down. I think what hurts us is the wheels, my set with Chris King hubs weighed in at 1,583g. The 3.4’s by comparison are 300g lighter. Although, under 16lbs is still incredibly light! I can definitely feel the difference from my Defy.

What do you suggest will help lower the weight? I’ve been thinking about switching to Carbon-Ti cranks but that’s all I’ve come up with so far.

I saw a guy on the “show us your Giant” thread who spray painted the fork and some other parts and you honestly would never be able to tell that it didn’t come like that. I used vinyl wrap to delete the orange bits and wheel decals on my defy and from afar you would never know.

Lighter disc rotors, 23mm Pro Ones instead of 28s, and a weight weenie cassette from B-Dop or Recon.
