Just thinking further about those comments and they sound very like ageism which, certainly in the UK and probably other places, is illegal. If I came on this forum writing about race, religion, skin colour etc, I would quite rightly be vilified and this isn't any different. Wow, what are you on? if a guy wants to slagg a brand I say do it, even if they have to take down a whole class of people. And he's right. I am old and old people do indeed ride slower - that's why I don't ride with them , and instead always go with the twenty-somethings. I can't stand the old guys - they suck, always complaining about their sore backs, grabbing their brakes when a leaf blows in the road, screwing up the echelons. An old persons right to be treated as an equal cyclist is not a protected right AFAIK.

And haha I have a Colnago and a Parlee - by definition that makes me an old dentist - not the slightest bit offended (university professor actually).

@zappafile123 Oh yeah, nice Tarmac. I hate road buzz though. No reason a good race bike can't be super smooth. You can cure it with bigger more supple tires and low pressure. Just so wrong that Campy 12 is not better.

Great color frame! I'm a big fan of that colorway, it would have been my second choice for frame color behind the Sagan SS.

I found that ee brakes are pretty strightforward to setup and have plenty of stopping power. They are also easy to center and pad changes are tool free, both advantages over other brakes. The fact that they're also half the weight of some is a bonus.

Unfortunately Zipp 404 wheels are heavy (1615g). They are bulletproof, but I switched out my 303 NSWs for Roval CLX50s and love the weight loss (1500g vs. 1377g). Coupled with the wider internal width (16.5mm vs. 20.7) making the switch was a no brainer.

Congrats, very nice build, but there is certainly big potential to go lower with the weight if that´s what you want.
EE brakes? Totally recommended, search forum..
Speedplay? Totally recommended and easily upgradeable sub 150g for nothing with chinese titanium axles (reliable)
Carbonworks bottle cage? They are great.
There may be some cheaper upgrades as well - what tubes you have? You may have 50g or 90g tube.. Bar tape? Deda can be around 30g vs some are almost 100g..skewers? Find some reliable lighter ones, you may have 50g or 130g skewers..there are also 30g skewers, but with stiffness compromises (different reports from different people)..
You may think about Powercordz cables etc. And of course lighter wheels:)) I will not use electrical tape but you can try Schwalbe tubeless tape, which can be mounted only in one layer unlike other tubeless tapes and is just 5g per rim..

Mate... 100% agree. Discs are heavy and relatively hard to service for marginally better braking, and Di2 whilst great, has its problems and just lacks feel to me. I'm happy for people to ride dic and di2, I just hope that manufacturers don't force me to ride the stuff down the track. Unfortunately, it looks like in the next 10 years that will be the case.

You're right, they are heavy. But they are exactly what I want in a wheelset so I'm not going to swap them out. I've ridden heaps of other hoops and they are the best of the lot (Xentis 5.8, Reynolds Aero 58, Enve 4.5, Enve 6.7, Easton Aero 55, Bora Ultra 2/Fulcrum XLR, Mavic CC Ultimate, Hed Jet 6 Black, AX Lightness Ultra 55 etc.). I'd consider the Roval CLX 50s but I've heard some bad things about braking - apparently its still bad - and durability.

I'm using Lizard Skins DSP 1.8 which is about 50g. I quite like it! Didn't realise you could get lighter tape! As for skewers I'm just using the Zipp ones that came with the wheels. I'm not really keen to push the weight in that department. I've ridden with Tune ultralight skewers - don't trust them! Rim tape is zipp which is probably about 20g per side. I’m under the impression that you can only use Campag cables for the new 12spd groupset

I am actually thinking about getting an SRM ORigin powermeter with Carbon-TI rings if a second-hand one comes up cheap. Its pretty and it'll save me about 120-165g on the power2max.

Nice bike!! May I ask what exactly did you use for the BB? Can one get the frame cheaper without the default ceramicspeed stuff?
It is a pitty the 12 speed is not an easy love. I love the looks and I don't mind stiff shifting but they must come up with a 12-27 too

I just use a Campag BB30 BB. If you dont want the Ceramin Speed bearings, you can always just onsell them - probably worth $180 on ebay. Look 12spd isnt bad, its just not quite as good as it should be. The stiff shifting has actually grown on me - 11spd feels a touch light now.

Deda Traforato is 39 grams, uncut, with the adhesive-paper and the bar-end plugs.

I really like that you build what you like to ride. Tons of ways to make a bike lighter, but not necessarily better for it's rider. WW be damned, sometimes.
