Hello Guys :)
Second build here form me. I followed the trend with the Izalcos and bought myself one as well. It was really really cheap and therefore very heavy, at least for the moment ;)
I‘ll take everything apart and build it up new for the summer here in the Swiss Alps. Probably it will be built up with Sram Red mechanical, shallow tubulars and some other fancy stuff. The weight target is below 6kgs.

This is the starting point - 7.58kgs.

Good luck with the target

Current build is with Ultegra mechanical, Fulcrum Racing 5 and Focus finishing kit, except the Pro stem.

You need a new Vinales wallpaper. He's Rocket 12 now lol.
You picked the right bike for the Alps!
Focus Izalco Max - 4.84kg without pedals
Cervélo Áspero - 8.28kg
Trek Madone SLR Rim - 7.73kg
Standert Triebwerk Disc - 8.47kg

Over the weekend I could start to remove all parts from the Izalco.
The paint is really bad on the top tube and so I decided to sand the paint down and to add only a layer of clearcoat to save some grams.
I weighed every part and got to the conclusion, that I'll change everything except the headset + expander.

The frame (without BB, RD hanger, BC bolts, cable guide, etc.) came in at 706g in size 52.

The uncut fork at 297g.

This is going to be an interesting build to follow. And 297 grams for a painted fork is (almost) scary light.

Will follow the progress with great interest.

You getting rid of the paint off the fork as well? The red doesn’t look too bad in the first pic but I’m not keen at all in the scale picture.

Also, I know I’m likely being an idiot but what’s this? I can’t work it out

The paint of the fork is really bad as well. It has many deep scratches and at the bottom the paint flakes off.
It's the compression plug which is in the fork to tighten it up from the top cap.

See, I thought that’s what it was but couldn’t convince myself. I’m going for more coffee...

Keep us posted on the paint removal, I always like these threads!

imo there is need for this heavy stuff. i am riding izalco max framesets with extralite ultrastar-expander since 5 years, works perfect! (and i know many others who do as well!)

lookig forward to the sanded frameset. curious about the weight-loss and how it comes out aesthetically.

Frame/Fork weight is very respectable considering it's painted. Good luck on the strip/sand & clear.
I know you're shopping for a BB so I'd try and determine a good, light, PF30 option.

"Very heavy" at 7.58KG... Only on WW :D

Looks like it'll be a great project.

Just goes to show if you don’t pay attention to the weight of each part, you can turn a sub 1kg frame/fork into a 7.58kg bike. That’s crazy.

I’m looking forward to seeing the frame and fork sanded, and the new build up
