Air does end up adding a few grams.
A surprising amount of air, it turns out. I just weighed my Vitus' front wheel with no pressure, 1042.5g, with 120psi it weighs 1047.5g (22mm tubular). Five grams for one wheel!

Still, 32 unaccounted for grams seems like a lot of air and grease :noidea:

I suspect if he knew where all the "misc" weight was there wouldn't be a separate row for "misc"...

It's so damn sexy on the bike, but sticks out like a sore thumb on the spreadsheet. Image

I know, I know, it's the antithesis of WeightWeenies but it is noticeably different in how the bike handles. I thought it was going to be temporary but I think this is a 50g penalty worth paying. I may order up a Pro 7s to see if that's a reasonable compromise but I dunno if I'm going to be bothered to replace the stem as I think it looks pretty cool (except maybe for the stealth version). I mean, the bike is at 5.7kg right now, which is under my maximum weight spec of what I consider light enough.

I still have a few loose ends to tie up on the build. I'll replace the bolts with Ti. I have a Tune seatpost clamp that should save 10g. Ti seatpost bolts (4 pack) should be arriving some day soon and I need to cut a good chunk off the Ritchey post.

I almost bought an Izalco Max myself. Team AG2R blue frame, etap, Zipp 303, quarq for just $2800.

Also, the look of the stem is worth the extra 80 or so grams.

I'm not one of those people that can tell the difference in stems, but I can in other parts, so I understand the sentiment. It's one of the reasons why I never considered a sub-300 gram fork until more recently.

I think the Zipp aesthetic is hit or miss, but it does match the frame nicely.

Today was a good day, saved 43g without spending anything (kinda).

Cut the seatpost to have 100mm inserted length and swapped in a ti bolt for a savings of 25g, Ritchey is now 137g:

Ordered a Tune seatpost clamp while ago, savings of 8g:

Swapped ti bolts in on the brick of a stem:

Put lightweights back on since I finally got around to gluing up the rear:

Current weight is 5.48kg.

Hey Ryan,
What size is the Tune clamp? 31.8? Any issuse with seatpost slipping while using the clamp so far?

I'm trying to lose some weight on the Focus also, but worry about slippage.

Thanks,

I just put it on and rode it once, but it was snug when I put it on. It's 31.8. I've used their clamps on all of my builds and they've all been super reliable, even with repeated removing and putting back on. Never have seatpost slipping issues with them on other builds.

Hey Ryan,
Can you tell me what pads your using please, I can see they aren't the specific Lightweight pads. Will these be staying on, if so do you find them better. I'm still experiencing pulsing under braking and feel I need to change from their pads.
Cheers

Hey Kevin, they're the Campy red pads. I didn't notice them being better braking per se but they eliminated my noise issue.

Ok, many thanks for the reply Ryan. Think I will have to stay with the Lightweight pads then. ☹️

No personal LW experience but have you tried cork pads?
