I sold my Aero 58/72s and would like to try a set of 58s if I found some.

We all want what we dont have.

@KarlC
Hold your horses, I just got them yesterday (see how clean those gumwalls are?). Also, I don't think 58/58 is going to be noticeably different than 58/72, probably not worth seeking out.

@oldturd
Yeah, got them from Imaking20.

Honestly, I didn't think there was a ton of difference in feel between the 58s and the 46s. The 46 is a little more stable and didn't feel to me like it gave up much speed. IMO, probably the best all-arounder wheel I've ridden. Definitely curious to hear what Mr. Moderator thinks when he gets some miles on them.

Dudemanppl weighs about as much as a high school cheerleader so I don't think that's his problem.

Just got a set myself, Aero 46's laced to CK R45's. Waiting till April to put them on because f___ New England.

Those look dynamite - they pair nicely with the Carbon Ti rings.

Can you tell me what pads your using please, I can see they aren't the specific Lightweight pads. Will these be staying on, if so do you find them better. I'm still experiencing pulsing under braking and feel I need to change from their pads.
Cheers
@KCookie: the pulsing is very annoying for sure as any pulsating at all, even a little bit, means modulation is zero, period. In another thread, Ryan advised me to try the red Campy pads, so I did, and while braking in general seemed every bit as good as the Lightweight pads, it did not solve the pulsing. I work with probably about 8 different sets of Lightweights and braking is all over the place, from terribly bad to perfectly good. And some that “pulse”, after looking at the trueness of the rim, just shouldn’t in my opinion since the rim is not out of true. So I’m thinking maybe at some point the brake track was overheated? And certainly the carbon in some Lightweights seems almost pourous if you look closely which would allow particles of brake pad and other contaminants to possibly get embedded and affect it. On one set, purchased used, the braking was so bad even in dry weather and using new Lightweight pads that I just took them off and started scrubbing the brake tracks with all manner of chemicals like Goof-Off, powerful citrus degreasers, clean up with acetone, etc. Used scouring pads as well. When I was done I sort of thought I might have destroyed the finish on the rest of the rim but a good scrub down with a mild dishwasher detergent and lots of fresh water rinsing got them looking just fine. The braking had improved immensely, and was passable. These never had the pulsing effect but I think it’s a whole combination of things. Still, the only thing that I can think of causing the pulsing (assuming the rim is true) is if perhaps it was overheated at some point, softening the resins a bit and changing things in isolated spots. I just don’t know, but I hate riding pulsing rims. But in general, I find the Lightweight pads work well with the Lightweight rims.

I think this looks great with the Roubaixs, actually maybe Vlanderens, on it.
