Since a paint defect appeared on my frame, Trek changed it to Sav. So they sent me a new kit frame with one of the new ICON paintings as compensation. Really very cool.
So I will be able to continue my "optimization" weight in order to reach 7 kg.
Photos coming soon.
The change of the wheels axes by "Extralite" should allow to gain 50grs, replacing all the screws with titanium or aluminium, 25grs more.
I also replace the holder-can/ battery by the identical cut in a carbon plate, gain 40grs so a total exported from 115grs.
Knowing that there were 260grs too much of the only solution to get to the advertised weight, carbon wheels tubular.

Did you already change all the bolts out? I've been on the fence about changing some of the more load bearing bolts, like on the seatpost and the stem. These get torqued up to 8Nm per spec, which is much higher than on my other bikes. The bolts that are supplied are 12.9 grade steel, which is significantly stronger than grade 5 Ti bolts (roughly between 8.8 and 10.9 grade steel).

I'd be curious to hear if you changed those bolts out and how it's working out.

Damn , the frames are not so good as they look like .

I'm having big problems with the seattube/isospeed .

There is so mutch play/flex in the seattube that riding is dangerous .

I secured the bold's to 8nm but it didn't help

I need to send the bike back to trek so they can see and maybe fix the problem .

Or had you tightened at 8 nm, the seapost is used at 5 nm.
or a few pictures before reassembly.

Disassembling madonna today to re-mount on the new. I take this opportunity to weigh frames and forks.

frame + seatpost : 1430grs - fork 430grs

20190113_111206.jpg
frame + seapost : 1320grs - fork 420grs

The difference in weight is very significant between the two. the only explanation........ the painting.

Damn that icon paint is really cool. I would have guessed that it’d be heavier. But I suppose white paint really is the heaviest option

A few grams of gains, replacing the original support with a carbon one. the gain is minimal but the finish is in the frame spirit

Ok, that's nice. Lots of great-looking Madones!

Interesting to hear about the new Isospeed issues. Mine are rock-solid, but they are all last season's and I won't get one of the new ones until next year. Keep us updated on your progress with that.

That's very cool. Is the fin on the carbon one supposed to be stops for the cable housing? Where did you get that cover?

I found the carbon plate in a small model automobile dealer. This can only be used for Di2 mounting,

Congrats on the find, looks really good. I've been thinking about making one for mechanical shifting, but haven't quite decided if it's better to go with carbon or 3d printing.
