I see a lot of people who seem to be knowledgable about Trek bikes in this thread. Is there a way to use third party stems and bars with the new 2019 Madone?

Yes! You can still get a different spacer kit that will suit the use of a third party stem / bar combo - the trek product code is - 560691
(Definitely works on the SL frame, i dont see why it wouldn't on the SLR too)

Thanks!! Based on the limited info I found, this was originally made for the Madone 9 (which is now called SL), I wonder if it works with the SLR.
It would look something like this, right? (with a mechanical rim brake setup):

I had the old bars on the SLR when I first got it.

So you can (with a minor bit of grinding plastic tabs down) get it to work with any bars.

Any reason why you're interested in the SLR's two piece cockpit? They are on the heavy side and a bit overpriced but extremely well finished and super adjustable.

I’ll weight it today. Btw I’m waiting for the correct size stem which is back ordered from Trek. I should have it in hand sometime the first week of January.

Ok finally got a chance to weight the frame (52cm) and fork this morning. She's quite a porker. I had no idea I had TWO Trek fat bikes

Hmm the fork seems quite porky indeed. My Madone 9 fork weighs 370g

metallic paint is beutiful but heavy. weight is just for bragging aero rules

Finally finshied the bike last night and will do a 45 mile new years day ride by the coast to get a feel for it. As for the weight, its 7.2KG's with the following.

Size 52CM 7.2KG
Dura Ace 9150 di2, 52-36, 11-28, (bar end junction box)
Bontrager XXX 6 wheels set up with Conti GP 5000 tires with lightweight tubes
Madone specific two piece cockpit, 400mm bar, 90mm stem
Speedplay Zero Titanium pedals
Bontrager XXX carbon saddle
Tune bottle cages
Supcaz bartape

I'll add nicer pics later this week.

Looks fantastic, do like that new fork design with the brakes behind. Maybe better with a 5mm offset post?

Astonishing bike! I'm almost done building mine, not a trek, but trying to go WW on it. What are those "lightweight tubes"? Supersonics? How have they been holding up?
