2019 Trek Emonda SLR H1 Rim Brake (6,250g)

Just finished up this build. Nothing new or exotic here. This bike replaces my 2018 Madone 9 project one which went back for warranty issues. Amazingly light build using standard parts.
Still impressive considering how far carbon mfg has come. Fork is only 275 which honestly scares me a bit. I imagine the bare frame without any hardware on it hits the 640g claimed weight... size 56. 713g otherwise.
Paint quality is quite good... solid grey. Night and day superior to the one-off project one.
I have a 1300-ish gram pair of low-profile clinchers in the works that will knock off another 200g. Considered doing EE direct mount brakes, but went with 9100 for performance. Pretty much perfect-for-me, durable build.
Weighed it all out like a good weenie citizen. Stuck it on the scale and it was spot on.
After spending most of the season on my Sworks Tarmac SL6 disc... nice to ride a super light, durable and NORMAL bike with cables!

Great set of wheels. Stiff and durable. Easily seriveable hubs with set screws on the end caps to dial in bearing preload. I installed hybrid ceramic bearings in them last year. 40's do look nice on this frame. I'm also building a set of 25mm clinchers/tubeless. The larger size yellow Veloplugs fit in these perfect and saves 30 grams. Weight with stock rim strips is 1560g
Yes, if there is a decal on anything and it can be peeled... you can count on me to peel it off.
Thank you Sir! Something to be said for a well executed *regular* bike

Compass Chinook Pass 700x28. Made in Japan by Panaracer. Essentially a Panaracer Gravel King. Weight is pretty good at 246g. 90% of my riding is grinding on gritty coastal tarmac.
Put a caliper to them, mounted to the 24.8mm wide Vision Metron 40's - they only measure 25.3mm
Also picked up a pair of similar Grand Bois 700x28 "Extra Léger" skinwalls. Claimed weight is 221.
Other than a few shakedown rides, have yet to really ride the bike nor the tires... I'll report back.

Very nice. Those rim brake SLR’s probably build up into one of the lightest production bikes available. I’m not a fan of the Metron wheels however. I’ve tried them and compared to my Boras the braking seemed like a skating rink. So, if I were to change anything it would be the wheels... to a set of the new Bontrager XXX wheels, just to keep things in the family so to speak.

Braking is good on the Metrons, but not great.
Gonna go hand built route. Got some 25mm carbon ust hoops with grooved brake tracks inbound thinking about building them with CarbonTi hubs.
Or maybe build up some velocity a23 hoops. Nothing like a light set of aluminum handbuilts. They stop, they’re comfy and you don’t get blown around.

Wow, that's narrow. My 26mm Cayuse Pass EL (200g) measure ~26mm on 21mm ID rims.
