2019 Trek Emonda SLR H1 Rim Brake (6,250g)

Anyone else having issues with the seat mast on the Emonda SLR? I did a test ride on my 2019 one and it keeps sliding down. Torqued to the max of 8Nm, same issue. Had my LBS check it to be sure, tested it again, same issue. Now the bike is back to the shop and maybe even back to Trek. Worst of it, my 5 year old Madone that has the same seat mast, was having the same issues. I'd figure that 5 years later, Trek would've improved the construction, but no. Very frustrating and as I've heard there're many issues with this I'd suggest Trek finds another frame/seatpost construction.
Fyi, my 62cm H2 frame and set up is 6490gr (including pedals, garmin mount, bottle cages). No pics yet...

No problem with mine... assembled with carbon paste and torqued.

I have had many Treks, but never had that issue. Are you using the same seatmast cap between the two builds?
Please post a thread on that 62cm Emonda build. I have my 60 at 6.6kg, but I am looking at ways to drop the weight on it.

Never had seatpost slip with my Emonda SLR, torqued to about 4nm and using dynamic carbon grip paste, weighing about 71kg.
Just be sure to use a lot of grip paste and it shouldn't move
And nice weight for the frame, I have the red team edition and it weighs 860g... (size 58, H1). Color is heavy

Would venture say that is likely true for Project One bikes. Preceding this ‘19 Emonda RSL H1 was a ‘17 Madone 9 RSL H1 in white. That frame was one off painted in white matte and well over 1000g. My personal experience with Project one paint was shit. Sloppy - thick, runs, drips, poc marks, overspray, etc.
This Emonda frame on the flip side was a hair over 700g - with hardware painted in the factory in batch.

Yup, same seatmast cap. The issue was solved by using some sandpaper to roughen the inside of the seatmast + soms carbon paste. Maybe not ideal, but works like a charm.
I'll make sure to post a thread when the bike is completely finished. Currently swapping the Garmin Vectors 2 for a 4iiii left crank and Keo Blade Ti Carbon pedals, which is a 170gr weight gain .
Updated pic with Corsa 28s Anthracite (240g) and Zipp SL (70g) tubes. Dropped the cockpit 5mm. Liking the grey paint/grey wall tire look...

Had a 9100 mechanical group on the shelf when I built this one up... If I started from scratch > Di2.
That being said I do enjoy having two fairly equal bikes in terms of performace. One traditional with cables and rim brakes and one contemporary with wires, hoses and discs.

Serious bike porn right there. Nice indeed. Could drop even more weight with lighter stem, saddle, etc., but I suspect dropping every gram possible is not the priority here. Very nice as is for sure!!

Exacty. Right here is where I draw my lightweight over bulletproof line... and somewhere in there mixes in frugal and rules of matchy matchy...
Photo shot with my Canon ƒ1.2 80mm portrait lens...
And while staring at that photo - I noticed I'm missing a pedal axle cap (again). Fortunately distributor gave me a handful of spares. Now being installed with some crazy glue...

Nice.
I just picked up my frame today (Rage Red) and just admiring it now. Man does this frame feel light. In addition to admiring the frame, I put stuff on the scale, too. I'm so glad Trek no longer over badge their frames. My 2012 Madone has Trek on the bike 9 times. Hell, I even asked if I could pay to not have Trek on the P1 frame, but that flew like a ton of bricks. I'll start the build this week.

Curious, which stem are you referring to that's lighter than the Fizik? I saw the Zipp carbon stem, but it was only a few grams lighter than the Fizik stem, but more that twice the cost and it is, well, ugly. I saw a few others, but the weight differences don't justify the cost differences. Please educate me.
Thanks...

He means uber stems like Mcfk (what I have on my SL6), THM Tibia, Extralite, etc.Methodical wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 4:18 amCurious, which stem are you referring to that's lighter than the Fizik? Please educate me.

I prefer the matchy-matchy value of an all Fizik R1 series cockpit and saddle on this build
