Focus Izalco Max build

Picked this up at a great price. Frame is 736g w/ derailleur hanger for a medium frame. Fork is 283g. How the heck did I miss these when I was in the market for a new bike? Seatpost I picked up from amazon until I can get things dialed in and figure out what length post I'll need. It's pretty impressive at 142 g for a 27.2 x 400. Also nice that the color accents go with most of my cycling clothes.



The rest of the build will come from this:




etap, fse/carbon-ti, eebrakes, clavicula classic, mcfk etc. Not bad for a second bike.

No we're not. Just found my hanging scale. 5.74 kg or approx 12.66 lbs with the garmin 800, speed/cadence sensor and out front mount.

I used it to ride to work this morning. It's commuting, but it's a full on training ride. 17-18 miles one way with hills, flats, rollers and descents.

Only issue was a clicking. I figured it was the PF30 BB. Turns out it wasn't. Riding to work at 4:30 AM is probably not the best idea for a first ride. When I left to go home I heard the click, but looked down and saw the crank arm was hitting the front derailleur cage. All it took was a slight adjustment and everything was silent. The bike rides beautifully. Handles well and it's light. Not quite as light as my Wilier, but this is technically the commuting/second bike.

Here's a photo at school/work (after the inaugural ride w/ all the night stuff on). I'll have to take some proper pics when it's nicer out!

This is what happens when you're at the point where you don't have to sell the old stuff to help pay for your upgrades. Same goes for the eebrakes. Newer generation on the Wilier.

i usually take something else for commuting, but i have to pass a lot of urban topography.

so, why not? depends always on the route

Spot-on frame and fork weight with my Addict SL that uses Scott’s lightest HMX-SL carbon... I also didn’t realize the Focus Izalco Max is so light. Sounds like you picked it up for a song. Nice job!

Total coincidence - almost all of my cycling clothing is Ale' and it's mostly fluo yellow and orange. I also have a yellow pair of shoes. Added bonus that the accents go with my clothing. I made a decision a few years ago to move towards hi-vis clothing w/ all the idiots driving and using cell phones. Seems to have made a difference.

a very wise decision, and absolute agreement concerning the "idiots" (but not only motorists, no small number of cyclists as well....).
i meanwhile regret having mainly black clothing and think about getting at least a fluo-yellow helmet, or something like that.
