Well what I wanted was try to get the weight down to low 7kg without using exotic parts. Was wondering if it's possible and I've exhausted almost all possible ways.
Can anyone advise further?

Depends on what you consider "exotic", a Red groupset and some open mold carbon would probably do the job. There's also some popular and very affordable weenie products, like Deda perforated tape or Kalloy UNO 7 stem with Ti bolts upgrade, that allow to drop 20g here and there, and those 20g's do add up.
That frame weight seems very heavy - even allowing 200g for the headset and bb?

Noted on that, uno stem and ti bolts on the way. Realized that r8000 brakes are heavy. So I ordered a set of Fouriers at 210grams. The brakes alone will chomp 150gms off!Klaster1 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 25, 2018 5:21 pmDepends on what you consider "exotic", a Red groupset and some open mold carbon would probably do the job. You must have already shaved off over 1kg...impressive
There aren't too many Meridas on this website...quite a few on NZ roads, plenty of the larger chains sell Meridas
I looked at a Scultura a while about...I was asking about Merida & the sales person said Merida owns 49% shares in Specialized

Stock weight is 9.09 without pedals speced with Tiagra. I traded all components for a complete r8000 groupset. ☺
