My goal was to by the cheapest aluminum Scott Scale and see how much lighter I could get it with the help of my lbs. MSRP is $999 usd and with my team race discout the price was a little better. When we got the frame we notice a gouge in the paint on the rear triangle down to the metal. Scott stepped up and took another 20% of the price.
Out of the box the bike came in at 12.72kg or 28.06lbs. The first thing to go was the wheels, seat and seat post and off the bat we lost almost 4lbs or 1.8kgs.
Upgrades were the following
WTB Frequency i19 race wheels - brought on closeout
Schwable Racing Ralphs 29x2.1 set up tubeless
Sram GX grip shift groupo (originally has Nx)
Easton EC90 carbon post
Selle Italia Seat (borrowing)
Lizard Skin Grips
Light Weight Skewer 9mm
Carbon Headset spacer
Seat post bolt
Final weight 10.83kg or 23lbs and 14oz
Scott Scale 980
