needs some 38s
Look at all the second picture. 38s are too small. 2.1" is where it's at.

gatorskins???

otherwise sick.
What do you have against gatorskins? I commuted on them for 3 years without one flat. Let me know if you ever want to race and I'll show you how they work. :welcome:
i just think they ride like shit and there are better (more expensive but obviously you've got the cash) options.

sure we can settle our tire quality debate by racing though.

edit. shit do you live in seattle? think i've seen you on the leaderboards... been trying to take your lakemont descent record. came close about a week ago.

Haha, yup I do.

I honestly bought them a long time ago for the first time to get something solid to commute on. Then I just got used to them and have kept getting them ever since. Maybe if I had different tires, I would have gone even faster down Lakemont...

i've really screwed myself haven't i?

do you have punctures a lot? i guess you are a big dude. i weigh about 165-170 and haven't punctured in 2-3 years with schwalbe's onestar tires, which are also wicked fast. i commute on the g-one speed in 35 or 38mm at like 30-40 psi. i'd expect that capitol hill has more road debris than most places in seattle. actually i think the only time i've killed on of their tires was hitting a minor rock garden booking it with their 28mm pro one which slashed the sidewall.

I’m 165-170 too. When I commuted from Issaquah to Seattle I would get them every so often and since it was such a long commute, I wanted something solid.

Great looking build. On road tires, does it actually give anything up against a traditional road bike?

I haven’t noticed anything yet... not quite as twitchy as a race bike maybe.

I ran my Crux in road mode (with 38 Compass tires) 1x with a 46 and while it was fine for 95% of my rides, fast group rides the gear jumps were a bit annoying. Going between the 10 and 12 you had to have your speed/cadence just right or else you were either spinning or bogged down. I was really debating the UP but couldn't find any decent deals on them. How do you like it with the 650 setup?

It’s great. Such a fun bike to slay gravel and trails with. Wouldn’t run 650b on the road though... the 1x with a 10t in the back is plenty. I just tuck any downhill I would have otherwise needed a standard 2x for.

Great looking bike.
Ultegra levers and Ultegra calipers and no Ultegra discs. Why? What kind of discs do you run?

How are the Easton cranks?
Does crank and B.B. stay quiet?

Fantastic bike! That’s probably the best looking gravel bike I’ve seen. I was also thinking about going 650 with chunky tires and you might have just convinced me!
