Beauty of a bike. If I didn’t say it earlier, this is impressive.
Quick question about your Jagwire Elite Link brake cables. How do you like them? I’m looking to replace my creaky Aicans. This set lasted a year before creaking. The prev set didn’t last much longer, ugh. Like you, I’m on a S / XS frame and I worry about a Yokozuna Reaction making the tight bend to my rear EE.
Hi, thanks for the kind comments.
Yeah, the Yokozuna’s are a struggle, though I have used them successfully with EEs before on my previous Ultimate CF SLX frame. It was tricky to get them set up so that they didn’t pull on the callipers.
The Jagwire’s have been fine so far, but then I’ve only ridden the bike 300 miles or so - too early to make a proper judgement. I’ve used Nokons and Alligator i-links long term before without any creaking issues. I know a guy in my club who’s had them on his BMC for a couple of years and he doesn’t have any problems.

Great bike and build. In terms of aesthetics I would change the chainring bolts to black and remove the wheel decals (if removable) - otherwise perfect. Very light but also practical.

Thanks. I think you may be right on the chainring bolts. I’ve been in two minds about them. I assume you mean the decals on the Schmolke wheels rather than the Lightweights, although I actually like those. They come off very easily however - ie if you use anything other than water, so they probably won’t last long!

Damn, I wondered what had been holding me back on the climbs all these years. I’d better rush home and put on my lighter, stiffer, er...

It was very comfortable. And then the rails broke. Berk was superb and replaced it without question very quickly. Then those rails broke as well. Not sure if it is a compatibility issue between the seatclamp design and the round rails, although not sure why that would be. I’m 65 kilos, so well under the round rails limit. Not seen any other reports of issues however so I guess it must be compatibility (perhaps the low torque you have to use with the Schmolke post allows some movement perhaps?). Anyway, Berk was again super responsive and replaced it again with the oval railed model. I’ve had no issues with that one at all, and I would definitely recommend. It is noticeably less flexy (and therefore slightly less comfortable) than the round railed version, but still a very comfortable perch. It is between the Berk and the Bontrager XXX saddle I have on my Madone for my personal ‘favourite saddle of all time’ I think. Members all know this anyway, but Jure was great to deal with on the issues I had.
General Bike Update : I’m now running the Evo with the Extralite Hyperclimb wheelset - 754g - which brings the weight down quite nicely again.

Nice built, I have a XS Ultimate EVO very similar to your built, But I use Shimano Di2, total weight including pedals, bottle cage, and all speed/cadence sensors, 5.1kg. Wheel are Schmolke TLO 30

Thanks. Did you weigh your frame and fork before building? Mine is updated slightly now with a Schmolke saddle, a YBN chain, a custom Raceware Direct stem mounted Wahoo mount and some very light Deda bartape. This offsets the weight gained by needing to use Corki titanium skewers (essentially a DT Swiss RWS copy, but lighter) to stop an annoying creak from the hub / dropout interface...

No, unfortunately, I did not weigh them before building. Differences from your are :
1. Extralite Hyperstem 100mm stem + computer mount. 2. Gelu S2 saddle (65g listed) . 3. PYC chain 4. 11-30t Dura Ace 9100 cassette. 5. Di2 handlebar junction A in Schmolke TLO 400mm handle bar. 6. Ceramicspeed 12t pulley wheels X 2 on original 9100 cage. 7. Schmolke TLO30 with Continental Competition Tour de France limited tubular tyre (250g listed) 8. THM Clavicula SE 110 crank + 50/34 Praxis Chainring. 9. CeramicSpeed BB 10. THM Brake Calipers + shoes 11. Carbon Works bottle cage X 2

Interesting, looks great. But how did you get the Hyperstem to fit though, given the Canyon has an oversized steerer tube (which is the reason I've had to use the Ritchey)? Do Extralite do the Hyperstem in a 1 1/14 diameter (I wasn't aware they did?).
Are the conti tubs you've got the one with the latex tube that the pros use? I've looked before but never managed to find anywhere selling them.
Cheers, Dave
