I picked up some 6800 Ultegra brakes to use for now. They came in at 351g (!) .. I got them cheap. One careful owner, who never washed his bike.

They’ll be replaced with kcnc cb9’s later. -130g

And I got another K-edge mount, I’m using these on all my bikes. I put Ti bolts in and it’s coming in at 29g.

FSA SL-K 130mm stem tuned with Ti bolts came in at a disappointing 174g but at least it all matches.

I’m bidding on some Dura Ace levers which will save 56g.

Obviously I always knew the Shimano Ultegra components would mean only modest weight targets would be achievable but it’s easy to upgrade to Dura Ace 9000 components as they become more affordable.

Need to take another 10mm off of the fork but here it is as it stands

Current plans for paint are a pearlescent white with chrome or metallic red cannondale down tube logo but that’s a way off.

Bidding on Dura Ace 9000 cranks.. fingers crossed.

Bought the KCNC top cap/expander which is 36g total, so should save about 15-20g from the cheap one I got originally.

Got my eye on some shifters too.

No other real news.

Won a pair of Ultegra 6800 shifters and 175mm cranks (50/34, will change for my preferred 53/39) and they are on the way.

Have revised the build list - there are lots of places I can lose weight on the build later on. Remember that this is a budget build and using some components I already had.

Kcnc expander plug arrived, much better quality and true weight of 37g vs 36g claimed. Looks great.

Much less seatpost showing at roughly my usual 88cm centre of B.B. to top of saddle measurement owing to the more standard less sloped geometry - I like it.

Shifters and cranks on. The kcnc bottom bracket / adapter was a breeze to install and works nicely.

Just waiting on the alligator I link cables (in silver) to arrive and a chain and I can build the bike up.

To get a rough set up I put my training wheels on it to see how it looked. I like it! I think the front fork I will paint all gloss black with just the 3T logo on top and leave the frame as is.

Now I know what it looks like I’m quite keen to hand build some light wheels as it will be predominantly used for the hills. It’s tempting to go for bike hub store stuff - what does everyone think about notes hubs and kinlin rims? I’ve avoided them in the past, but could build a reasonably inexpensive <1400g wheelset in this way.

Bar tape will be black fabric knurl and tyres on the final wheels will be Veloflex Masters. I’m open to suggestions as they’re a little puncture prone but I like the feel of them, and they’re 35g lighter than the Vittoria corsas. I only ride tan walls. Tubes will be maxis featherwight or conti super.
