I have the same thing on my v2r. Left piece is split ring made out of plastic together with rubber seal that covers top portion of head set bearing. Top cap goes direct on top of that. nothing else is needed

Hmm, I’m not seeing any split ring in that piece shown above. Here’s what I’ve seen...
Top of the c64 headtube... as it comes from the factory, cups and bearings installed...

And the beveled split ring, on the right below... the one on the left (not beveled) was for a slightly earlier design....

Certainly could have changed things for sure, especially with the new integrated stuff, I just haven’t seen that piece.

Thanks for your replies. Yes, it is a split ring, just not visible on the photo. The top part is rubbery, just enough to cover the bearing.
Good to hear there is no washer.

That is just beautiful - i've just dropped my stem another 10mm with surprising comfort, enve stem going on too. Colour of the S Works walls works very very well, i find the vittoria tan wall too light..
I agree with the looks of the S Works vs. the Vittoria. Also, having ridden the S Works for a few months now, it is a stunning tire.

I like AXS. It is my first electronic shifter experience so I cannot really compare it to Shimano or Campagnolo but it is very smooth and shifts very well. Also like the extended range!
