Quite similar to the extralite one. Im neither using spacers below the stem...edorwart wrote:I use this and it works fine. But I have 0 spacers under my stem.

I have the Colnago Ceramic Speed 30mm bottom bracket. It took a little extra figuring on the spacers to get the crank installed just right in relation to the chain line, bearing freeplay but it can be done. One issue is that standard 30mm axle spacers do not work correctly on non-drive side as the axel is tapered and that a sleeve that goes between axle and inner bearing race.
Hi guys. I hope this is the appropriate thread (as opposed to starting another). Just received my long awaited frame set and am getting to work on the build. A lack of expertise, combined with a determination to enjoy the process, will surely see this build not break any time records but that's ok. I hope to have it done by weekend if possible...
I am just fitting the fork and have noticed that the headset cap/cover has a big gap in between it and the top of the head tube. I have pushed the 'inner grommet' (I'm unsure of its proper name, but it is the semi-soft plastic inner cap) as far as seems proper into the bearings but the gap is still very obvious. It may well be I need to put the expander bolt in and tighten in order to 'pull' everything together tightly? But I want to avoid manhandling things if I am making an obvious error at this point. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That gap is too big. Mine was kind of like that until everyting was tightened up as the soft plastic inner piece fits tight and will hold things up. Just make sure it is all lined up and nothng crooked and when you tighten down expander is should close up the gap
Thanks Edowart
Fitted the BB yesterday - it was painful. Unsure about the choice of C Bear now, both in terms of fitting experience but more so due to pretty dire support/response.
Anyhow, it is in now but I wanted to ask for views on the pics below - when I pushed the crank through the dust cover on the non-drive side popped off. I’m not sure how much of an issue this is (or if it is at all) but wanted to check given this is all brand new stuff and the last thing I want is to have to pull everything apart again in the near future after toiling away at the build for the past days. I gently pressed the dust cover back into place with the BB press and it seemed to sit flush again (albeit I haven’t tried to pull at it to check how firm the seating is). Any tips? I think I read somewhere that putting a film of grease around the dust cover can help keep out any unwanted crap in such instances.
Thanks
Mike

Yeah this can happen when fitting cranks, not unusual

Thanks mate. Reassuring to hear. I smeared a little grease around the outside of the cover to give a little more moisture protection so hopefully all good.robbosmans wrote:Yeah this can happen when fitting cranks, not unusual

Thank you. As shimano standard BB92 is like 55g, its basically the same weight just to put there cheap shimano dura ace press fit bb instead of ceramic speed..
Does ceramic speed have any other advantage (besides highly discussed advantage of ceramic ball bearings)? I mean is it better for maintance/durability/no creeking to screw there ceramic speed or Colnago cups with Shimano press fit bb is similar reliability?
Thanks so much!
