Hi Everyone. I have been a lurker here for over a decade; it is time to build something. The criteria involve: lightweight, relatively cheap, and meaningful components to me. A Rock Shox Indy SL up front represents the logical conclusion of the elastomer sprung Quadra line of shocks that I wanted as a youth but could never afford. The Trek STP frame was pretty awesome back in the day: full suspension (of sorts) and exotic Carbon. A titanium softail would have worked as well, STPs are selling at 1/3 the cost on ebay. A lot of components on their way in the mail... Here is what I have so far / in the mail.
(ebay pic)
From my closet:
BNIB Rock Shox Indy SL - 1354g WW
Sun Ringle black flag wheelset - 1290g claimed?
Use alien carbon seatpost - unknown weight
2X Avid single digit SL - 165g (each) WW
titec pluto saddle - 201g claimed
EC90 carbon flat bar (maybe too narrow) - 99g claimed
From ebay:
Trek STP 400 Frame Medium w SID rear shock - 1750 g WW - $283.85
Cannondale SI SL 2X10 MTB Crankset 26/39 170mm - 453g claimed (not including 131mm spindle and other hardware) - $279.99
J&L BSA to BB30 bottom bracket - 52g claimed - $27.00
Aerozine XH1.6A headset (maybe) - 110g claimed - $22.07
SRAM XX top pull high swing front derailleur - 118g claimed - $19.61
Future purchases:
-SRAM X0 or XX rear deraileur, medium cage
-KMC 10SL chain
Decisions to be made:
-Cassette 2x9 or 2x10; Between a XG-999 or XG-1099 depending on price I can find them
-entire cockpit... not sure about committing on final parts before I get a sense of the fit of this bike on me
-pedals
Suggestions are welcome!
