Made the decision to have this sanded down to bare carbon. As I am not the type of person to be able to do this (I lack the skill) I have sent it to KustomFlow here in the UK. I hope to have it back in the next 2 weeks.

In the mean time I've been on the look out for anything more that could save me a few grams and I happily stumbled upon some Zero Gravity OG-05 brakes in near mint condition.





As soon as the frame is back I will be getting this built up ASAP in readiness for spring.

Still waiting for this to come back to me. I am now considering throwing etap on here. I have replaced the chinese carbon bars with some 3T Rotundo alloy bars and will be using a 3T Arx II stem as it comes up a bit longer than the kalloy. I have dipped into a new carbon Fizik saddle as well. With all the changes Im now thinking I'll be closer to 5.7kgs, but I have come to terms with the slightly more porky weight, as I think its going to look good. I am expecting the frame to be completed at the end of the forthcoming week, so hopefully have it back within the next 2 weeks. I will have a graphics mock up tomorrow so will share that once received.

Just got the frame rendering back from Kustom Flow in the UK. Very excited now.

How much are they charging to strip the paint and clear coat it? Just curious in case I ever get the urge to undertake something similar again. Any idea on approx weight the clear coat will add?

Living in the UK, yes, it'll probably hang for 10/11 months of the year, but on those few and far between summer days, it'll get a good thrashing, along with a July trip to the TDF and a December trip to South Africa.

Can't wait to see it all together. Most Cannondale paint schemes are ugly, so this will be a treat.

Etap has been ordered, will obviously gain some weight now, but I got a great deal and couldn't really turn it down.

I have also been promised a weight from the paint shop post sanding, pre-clear coat, so will be interesting to see what the loss was VS the original paint job and then also what the clear coat adds. I will hopefully have some pics in the coming days of the new finish.
