Hi all - relatively new to the forum, and this will be my first bike build on WW - haven't built up a bike in a long time (BMX when I was a kid) so this should be interesting.

Goal: Sub 7.5kg (Porky)
Budget: $400
Frame: 2002 Trek 5500 OCLV

Should be fun!

Frame-set / Fork / Headset: acquired for $100 - plan will be to plasti-dip this in pearl burnt orange - Halloween-themed bike

I almost can't believe it is that heavy.
Can you give us a parts list, it should be easy to save some weight.

I would say the added weight is the nearly 3kg wheelset

no doubt - what is my best bet for a sub 1500g clincher wheelset <$150? Won't let myself spend $$ on this build hah!

Check AliExpress for some kinlin XR200 rims on r13 hubs, can be found for around that price and are around 1300g
