Those spokes look very interesting. Lighter than the Pillar Xtra-Lite Ti spokes. I sent an email to get pricing. Something about them look very scary. Not a lot of info on user experience on the web.

For this build I would choose flat spokes. More aero.

100% agree - they might be very light but it looks terrible :(

Can you clean those spokes ? I just thought about this . They look like they will get dirty real quick and impossible to get clean again . Dyed black if possible ?. I’m rethinking my early enthusiasm for those spokes .

@Jenmoss - If this is gonna be the "Purple Prince" bike, I will need some more purple. After the first coat of clear, it doesn't look too bad. Once I get about 5 to 10 good coats on there, I think the levers will look much nicer. I think it will still be stealth enough for my taste.

That looks really good. Going on your track record this is going to be very stylish. I’m a huge purple fan so I’m down with this

I finished one of the levers. This was the first time taking apart an Etap lever so I left the other side intact so I had something to reference to put the reworked lever back together. Getting the little spring that pulls the lever back was the most challenging part for me. I like how the lever turned out. The part matte/part gloss of the original lever didn't work for me. I can now start the other side and get this bike finished finally.

I cannot report on the performance factor, but on the cool factor this enormous carbon 3K cage with gigantic 3K pulleys look cool as F##k.

I cut a FELT decal and stuck the F on the TriRig brake shield. I then clear coated it. Looks OK, but I am not quite sold on it. It may clash with the purple brake cable housing once I attach it. If it is too ugly I will remove the decal and reclear spray it.

I am already into "FRED" territory with this build. Why not go "Uber Fred" and make my wife wear a Giro Aerohead helmet? The Textreme will match the frame. I would need to sand all the matte clear off, re do the "Giro" decals in purple, and finish it off with gloss clear coat. I can have my optometrist buddy re do the shield in a purple iridium color. I can also commission Kevosinn to bond a rear view mirror extension on the helmet. Might as well go all out.

For those of you wondering what a FRED is, here is the definition:

"Fred" is a derisive term used by "serious" road cyclists to describe other cyclists who do not conform to serious road cyclists' norms with regard to dress and equipment, and appear amateurish to them. The term is generally reserved for men, while the rare female Fred is sometimes called a "Doris."

So ~6 months in and still building. Does your wife even want to ride still? That's a lot of patience..

What's wrong with the chain / ring interface? Something doesn't look right at all! Look at the gaps between chain and ring in the lower part of the ring :? Quick link doesn't seem to be fully locked. Could explain (part) of the gaps.
