WR Compositi 51 rims laced to Carbon-Ti hubs. They are light, robust and make a beautiful sound.

Looking forward to hearing the XR4 vs. Protos comparison.

I've ridden like 2km on a Protos, but I remember it having a pretty raw ride quality - you feel the detailed texture of the road, it's really nice and responsive, and picks up speed beautifully. XR4 has a much more insulate ride feel.

I have managed a few hundred more miles on the XR4. So far, countervail has made me a believer. Some may describe the XR4's ride as disconnected because it does an excellent job of muting some of the smaller road vibrations. Even with the very stiff one piece stem/bar combination, the ride is aggressive yet compliant

On the other hand, the Protos rides as you described. It picks up speed instantly and you feel every rattle and bump in the road. I enjoy how raw and purposeful the Protos feels on Sunday rides. Although i could ride both on a century, I would reach for the XR4 for the comfort it offers. I am happy I went with the Bianchi as I was considering the RB1k in Italian champion colorway and that would have likely been a lot like the Protos.

Yes I bet now they have to release one soon given the fact that discs are starting to be race legal. Maybe a release before the Giro!

Spez. has also not released their new tarmac in the disc version. This one will certainly be ready for the classiques in the spring.
