Always wanted to do some custom paint project, especially being inspired by many great bikes you can see on this forum. The patient is 2012 R5 VWD. I have been riding this bike for almost 4 seasons. These days the frame is hanging on the wall, so decided to bring it to the life with some nice paint (TBD) using lying around parts.
The concept is to build something nice looking, without crazy stuff and cost.
I'm going to strip the paint out on my own, already finished post and shifters.

Other components: Red 10s shifters, FD and RD Red 22, wheels - have 3 sets to choose from, but probably will pick the lightest one 303/404 tubs combo. Crank - have new Rotor 3D, adding a CNC spider from 3D+ will have 3D+ :). I'm not sure about chainrings, the only spare new ones I have are Rotor standard. I have been using their oval Q-rings and QXL for long time and like them.
I may also end up swapping the crank between S5 and R5, which is equipped with P2M S.
It looks like, that the only part I will have to buy are brakes. Wouldn't mind going for Sram Red, but I'm not convinced with their colour, would prefer black ones. Again, trying to keep the cost down, my favourite EE probably will not be an option.

And this is how she looked like in her last days, just before I put etpa on and few months later switched to S5.

By the way, Dorico is not a one pice of carbon, part of the top is bonded to the post, similarly Ergosum Ltd is 3 part piece.

All stripped carbon parts will get some paint, that would be determined by the final frame finish. At that point I'm thinking off thin clearcoat or satin.

I think the old build was stunning. Exciting to see how she'll turn out!
