Bike is still unfinished. It's the Aethos in the gallery.
You guys with Aethos make me want to seek for a new employer  Do share the mod results, I'm curious about battery life.

Just received my third Lupina. After I noticed the previous saddle has noticeable asymmetry, I contacted Jure, mailed the saddle to him and he claimed it a warranty case. I hope he didn't do this out of politeness 😅 Anyway, the new saddle weight significantly less then saddle #2 - 80.7g vs 68.9g. To compare, my first, round railed Lupina was 65.6g. A nice surprise where I didn't expect it from.

After half a year with a smart trainer, I decided to add more sensors to the bike - HRM and cadence - so I could pace myself outside better or just gawk at additional data. Unfortunately, my trusty old Cateye does not support these, so I evaluated several options:
a. Get a new computer. It has to be as light as Cateye or thereabout. Garmin Edge 130 is a reasonable option, even though a tad heavier.
b. Mount the phone outfront, use the IpBike for Android. I always take the phone with me, so this option might be even lighter than the Edge. And cheaper (unless I crash and damage the phone in the process).

For both of these, an out front mount would be required, so I ordered a ~15USD Zrace from AliExpress. Although heavy, the package contains all sorts of mount adapters, including sticky Garmin baseplate for phones. Nice quality overall. While I'm on FC-5800 waiting for the Skypivot, the weight matters less, so I'll use the Zrace for now. Did not like how heavy it is - ~40g - so last weekend I quickly sketched up an IX2 mount, using this Wahoo for "inspiration". I even learned how to do basic FEM in FreeCAD and "checked" if it can hold the phone, mostly for entertainment. Took several days to find a cheap 3D printing place nearby, but the first prototype is now ready. The fit needs some work and I've probably removed too much material, the second revision looks good enough. Will print it later again and then to find a CNC shop. Will publish the STEP/FCStd when done.

One problem with 3d printed parts holding an extension such as this is the layer adhesion is only a good the printer person calibrating it. You will want nylon as pla is going to degrade and crack pretty fast. Keep working on it and you can make something that will last, but beware why more items are not just 3d printer

The mount will be machined out of aluminium alloy, prints only help to confirm model dimensions are find any issues, like lack of recess for bolt heads or wrong hole diameters.

The current state of the bike, heavier than before due to a spare crankset, but I still have several small upgrades to make. Hard to believe it's been seven years already.

Fingers crossed my second attempt to replace IX2 bolts will succeed.

The CNC shop sent me preview photos of the out front mount. They messed it up a bit, will see next week how it affects the function.

Mine cost 22USD to manufacture, Darimo will be about 100USD. Making your own parts is fun and you can brag about it :D

Today I finally managed to get the mount and try it. It did not fit, I got both bolt distances (faceplate and adapter) wrong. Almost lost a TitanumPlanet bolt too - dropped it on the floor, took 20 minutes to find. These bolts are T15, will have to buy a 1/4" head since my torque wrench set doesn't go below T20.

Same as before, a FibreLyte Lightweight 2 38t single speed. If anyone is interested in a Vumaquad for parts, PM me.
