2015 Felt AR1 Build
Moderators: MrCurrieinahurry, maxim809, Moderator Team
Frame just arrived today.
Will follow up with frame, fork and seatpost weights.
Planning to build it up with 9000, EE front brake, Archetype wheels and DA hubs, S Works crank and some Enve bits.
Carbon wheels need new bearings hence the trainers are on there.
More to follow...
TEXTREME!

Weighed in at about 7.3 kg with H Plus Son wheels and Ti skewers and S Works saddle..
S works saddle snapped and I replaced the Ti skewers with DA ones, so this guy is a porker..
That said, solid ride..
I really do believe that Felt offers a really nice bike (complete build) and or frame set at a very reasonable price point...and with Super Dave lurking on this and various other forums, it is always a plus!

Aren't AR frames supposed to be sub-900g? Or is that FRD only?
Oh, and brakes are direct mount?
Just the FRD are sub 900g, as it uses a different grade of carbon for the frame and does not have the ability to accept mechanical shifting systems.
Yes, just the rear brake is direct mount.

Nice build, proportions look nice despite the massive tubes. Not a fan of 12K carbone weave, look a bit cheap/"fake". Otherwise awesome

Thank you. Definitely a polarizing look, I agree. Would fall closer to an 18 k weave than a 12 k one. Also this carbon is called Textreme, made by a Swedish company Oxeon, nothing fake or cheap about it...

If one knows how much a sheet of Textreme costs, compared to "regular" hi-mod carbon, ha, they'd be shocked. No one uses them on bikes except for Felt. This material is usually used in aerospace and F1 applications. Those large weaves are what makes the carbon so strong, light and forgiving.
Very clean build, but agree that this is gagging for some deep rims

+1 High profile wheels are a must on this frame.
The carbon used is certainly of the highest quality but, still, it does not look nice.
